L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
----------------------------
Seeing helicopters flying over Grafton, is not all that unusual.
However,... seeing a helicopter installing air conditioners on the top
of a building, is. Late friday afternoon, many local residence watched
as a helicopter installed several air conditioners on the roof of the
Marvins Windows and Doors facilities on the west edge of Grafton. It's
my understand that the work the helicopter was called in to participate
in is part of the expansion project Marvins is doing to their Grafton
Facility.
Have I mentioned? If your planning on refurbishing your home, or
building a new one, request Marvins Windows and Doors. You will be
pleased you did,.... and so will several thousand families in northern
North Dakota and Minnesota.

Taken from page 4 of the Norwegian safe driving manual..... It is the
responsibility of the person driving, to take advantage of all possible
information from all of his passengers, and then do what he believes is
in the best interest of his vehicle..... If,... on the other hand, the
driver should get stuck. It is the responsibility of his passengers to
"dig him out".

Rumor has it there is something going on north of town today
(Saturday). I know it has something to do with snowcats because a couple
of snowcaters stopped in Granny's for breakfast an said that they were
"in the races today". When I mentioned that to a couple other folks in
town they indicated to me that they didn't know that anything was going
on in town this Saturday either.
So, my question is. How can that be? Another question might be. Why
doesn't every single business place in Grafton include those facts in
every single one of their advertisements preceding such events? There
isn't even any mention of the snow mobile races on the Chamber of
Commerce Sign on the corner by the Chamber Office. I find it somewhat
ironic that "our" local TV channel three can advertise such things as
bingo and bowling events that take place every single week all year
long, yet not one mention of an event that could draw several hundred
people to "our" community.
On the other hand, maybe the folks that are involved with the
snowmobile races don't want anyone else to know about it. It just might
be that it's to dangerous for local spectators or something.
If so, then please disregard this message.

Speaking of local business. Eric would like to share the following
message. >>>
Hello,
This is Erick from the Alltel Agent here in Grafton. I just
wanted to let you know that starting January 5th 2009, we will be
located at a new location less than a block south on Griggs of the Post
Office here in Grafton and just a block west of Hill Ave on 6th or in
short terms, corner of 6th and Griggs.
Coming from a small town of 300, we are big proponents of the
development of downtown. With the recent additions of Country
Smokehouse, Curves, and Rick's Repair, among others. As well as the
refacing and remodelling of B & D flooring and Grafton True Value, we
have alot of respect for downtown Grafton. We have been waiting for
the perfect place to become open and present itself to us and we
believe we have found it. In addition to selling Alltel service
and phones, as well as Accessories for almost all Alltel and Verizon
phones, in the last few months we have become a large seller of used and
refurbished phones both locally and online, we are also offering Cell
Phone Repair for select makes and models. We believe this location
will satisfy everything we need to carry out our different divisions as
well as to better serve the customer. We appreciate all the support
the community has given us the last few years and we look forward to
serving the community for years to come. Also, if you have any
questions regarding the Verizon/Alltel merger, please feel free to
contact me. In North Dakota/South Dakota/NW Minnesota as well as
approx another 100 plus markets in the US, Alltel will not be merging
with Verizon.
Thank You,
Erick Soltvedt <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Rick.
And thank you for your vote of confidence in the Grafton community.
Another way folks might find your business easily is simply to look for
the giant microwave tower directly above your downtown location.
I could be mistaken, however I believe the "Tower Building" will soon
become the new home of yet another new Grafton business.

Anne would like to share her thoughts of Fr. Lommel. She wrote: >>>>
Father Lommel was the pastor in Grafton in 1969 when I was a CYO
member the year our family lived in town. It was a great year filled
with so many wonderful memories. There is nothing more special to a
farm girl than being able to walk to your friends' houses and partake in
all the activities normally off limits because you live in the
country. Oakwood was already having transitional pastors by
that time, so Father Lommel was a stabilizing force and remembered with
great fondness.

Scott Boura shared his thoughts of Ray Capouch. He wrote: >>> My path
crossed Ray's during our parallel stints at Wally's. One would think
Ray's family was large enough, with 12 kids, but in reality it was much,
much larger than that. What I remember of Ray (and June) is that his
"house" and "life" always seemed to be full. He was a gentle and jolly
man, always there to lend a hand and he rarely spoke a harsh word. It
appeared he gave far more than he receive but I'm sure he would argue
that point. I have no doubt he is receiving his just reward.
Scott <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Scott. Folks Like
Ray Capouch earn there "just reward" long before they leave our soil.
