April 30, 2008 - Wednesday

04/30/08 WEDNESDAY
Todays Gazette is brought to you by,..... Grafton's True Value Hardware
Store.
They are back on SUMMER HOURS.

The current temperature is 33
Normal H/L temp for this date is 62/36
Fieldwork is starting to pickup with most growers, finding many fields
ready to work and plant.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-------------------------
Several folks have written in wondering how our Country Smokehouse
Apple Cinnamon Stuffed Pork Chops turn out the other day. Please keep in
mind that I am much more of a consumer than I am a connoisseur. However,
the pork chops were tender and tasty. The stuffing was moist with a just
enough apple cinnamon seasoning to tickle the taste buds. In a word,....
fantastic.
Just as soon as Pat and my sucrose meter says it's okay, I'm going to
throw a special cut Country Smokehouse Rib-Eye Steak on the bar-be-cue
grill, with just enough 57 sauce to draw my attention to a few onions
rings leaning up against a half dozen fried mushrooms. Topped off with a
small pile of lightly buttered American fry's. All, I might add,
complimented by a reasonably sized glass of pre-global warming ice cubes
covered by diet 7-up mixed with the fluid the flows from a purple bag.
--------------------------
I understand Leistikow Park will be adding another "attraction" this
summer.
The newest addition to Leistikow Park this summer will be DISC/FRISBEE
Golf!!! I understand the Welding Students at the vocational school built
all the baskets and park employee's will be installing them in May.
Look for the new 9-hole disc/frisbee golf course in the coming weeks.
It'll be free and open to the public... So,.... that's another activity
to keep us busy in Grafton!
--------------------------
If you haven't noticed the giant billboard sign as you enter Grafton
from the east. Take a drive out to the east edge of town and take a
look. You really must see it to appreciate it, but I can give you a
"sneak preview".
The sign reads, in giant letters across the top,.... STATE CHAMPS,
then it recognizes our 2008 State Championship wins in Hockey,
Basketball and Cross Country. The sign was put up courtesy of Grafton's
Alchem plant.
It sure is a wonderful way to recognize the efforts of so many of our
youth.
--------------------------
Speaking of working together. The folks over at the Grafton Lutheran
Church have taken on a interesting project. Denise Sevigny (Embroidery
Plus) sent the following information.
Subject: Salvage Drive
Gary:
Just a note to give Grafton citizens an opportunity to contribute to
a couple of worthwhile programs. Grafton Lutheran Church has recently
sponsored a salvage drive during "Go Green" week. We have extended it
through this week to give people in the community an opportunity to
participate. The proceeds will be equally divided between the Northwood
Tornado Recovery and our local Vacation Bible School program (which is
open to all children who are currently of school age regardless of
denomination or if they don't belong to a church family).
If you read the city clean-up instructions, items like batteries
and appliances are not included. We are accepting batteries and
appliances (except refrigerators and freezers), as well as other metals.
Some items that have been donated so far are garage door tracks,
silverware, plow shears, and too many other items to mention. We have a
wonderfully dedicated member of our church who has sorted items for us
once they are delivered. People can drop items next to the shed behind
Grafton Lutheran this week. Or if people have items they would like to
donate but can't transport them, they may call Grafton Lutheran Church
(352-2638) and provide a name, address and phone number so we can
collect the final items Saturday morning between 9 am and 12 noon.
Thanks for your help in spreading the word about this project.
Denise Sevigny <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Denise.
Who knows, maybe, when we get all the old iron out of the county, Al
Gore will recommend us for a Heismann Trophy or a Silver Cup or give us
a book full of carbon credits.
-------------------------
Speaking of State Champions and the efforts of our youth. There is
still time to get in on the American Legion / High School Baseball.
Simply drop me a quick note saying how many tickets you would like,
what name/s you would like on the ticket, and the complete address.
I will fill out your ticket, you fill out a check (payable to Legion
baseball) and mail it to me at 764 Birch Court, Grafton, North Dakota.
Your participation will help the youth of our community concentrate on
something other than running in the streets hoping they won't get into
trouble.
++++
Richard Wolsky shared the following note yesterday. >>>> Please place
my name on a Legion baseball ticket, I will send a check today. I
remember playing Legion Baseball, we had no number on the back of the
uniforms, but an advertisement for, I think, LaPlante Insurance Agency,
regardless we had a lot of fun and it's a great program. <<<< Thanks a
million Richard. Your participation will certainly help keep our
youngsters in serviceable baseball bats, among other things.
------------------------
Everyone knows the world is full of "Special People". Wives & Husbands,
Moms, Dads, Grandma's & Grandpa's certainly are special people. Aunts,
uncles and of course Godparents are among the list as well.
Today, however, Pat and I would like to wish a very Special Person a
very Happy Birthday. Today is the day Jo Elbert celebrates the
anniversary of her birth.
If Webster's Dictionary were to define the words: kind, courteous,
considerate, pleasant, loyal, honest faithful and beautiful. All Webster
would need to print, would be Josephine (Jo) Elbert.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JO ELBERT
You truly are a very special lady.
With best wishes and all our love,
Pat and Gary and our entire gene pool +++++
Our daughter Kelly wants to share this.
Jo Elbert will be as beautiful as ever on her special day. She's
a wonderful lady and I'd also like to wish her a happy birthday.
Love you Jo,
Kelly

If you haven't toured the "The Garnett House" in St.Thomas you've
missed seeing one of the areas Grandest Homes. For many years - while
Josephine "Garnett" Miller occupied the home - as a member of the
Grafton Floral family, I had the opportunity to deliver and often help
Josephine decorate her marvelous home for various special occasions
throughout the year.
This Sunday, May 4 the Historic Garnett House in St. Thomas will be
host the annual Tea and open house from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. You will
also see a grand selection of German Dresden Porcelain Lace Figurines.
Tickets for this memorable event will be $7. The Garnett Home, located
on the North end of the main street in St. Thomas, is run by the St.
Thomas Preservation Society.

Workers have been seen hauling merchandise into the new "Home" of Home
of Economy located on the west side of Grafton.
---------------------------
While I was driving through Leistikow Park Monday afternoon I was
thinking. How wonderful it's going to be, to see the park full of people
all summer. I thought of the 30 or more mobile units that will be
taking up residents in town, for the whole summer. All, or certainly
most, of them will be here seven days a week. Something many local
residents (including me) can't say.
Our community could well have 350 to 400 new, temporary, people living
here for the entire summer. Some, in fact, just might find that our
little community offers then exactly the kind of tranquility they have
been looking for, and stay for good.
Some of our new visitors have already mentioned, how nice they think
our little community is and how much it has to offer.
---------------------------
Yesterday I received a call from a nice lady that works at Sunset. She
called to request a Legion Baseball Ticket, and, while she was at it,
she asked if she could be also be included in the Gazette Family. She
mentioned that she as been getting the Gazette from the "news from
Grafton" website. However, she said, it isn't always up to date".
So,.... now we have another new member of the Gazette family, ticket
#322 will go in the barrel with Pat's name on it, AND, the baseball
folks have another sponsor.
++++
Yesterday I received a note from a former Grafton resident saying they
will be sending a $100 check for our Baseball players. The note said
that I "needn't" mention anything about it,... "it's just fun to donate
to something that keeps the younger generation busy and having fun."
So let it suffice to say. Thanks a million to the owners of a trucking
firm with the moniker DB Trucking, and a special thanks to you Marie.
-----------------------
I understand somebody was questioning the logic of increasing the
Leistikow Campgrounds. I have also heard, someone, suggested that the
additional spaces (12) that are being added to the campground will not
leave enough open space for local residents to play on.
Obviously, those individuals simply haven't spent enough time driving
around researching their concerns.
I may miss a place or two, however I see acres of unused open play
areas all over town. Not the least of which, is the area just east of
the Centennial Center. The West 8th street softball field is another
prime spot to throw a frisbee. Of course Pumpkin Park offers additional
playground space as does Chandler Field and of course we shouldn't
forget the Southends Buster Schumacher Park. Then there is the State
Developmental slew, that would be a fantastic area to "run til you
drop".
Another fabulous place to romp and stomp is what some have called the
Eagles Park just East of the Golf Course Club House. That's a great
place to picnic and play touch football. As is the many acres in the
Green Belt area, north of the river. We shouldn't forget our meandering
little river, offering our residents a super place for canoeing.
AND,... I haven't even mentioned the many areas of Leistikow Park that
provides ample room for about any activity one could think of. Not to
mention the three Baseball Diamonds and as many Tennis Courts around
town. Plus Fantastic facilities for Curling, Archery, Bowling, and Golf
shouldn't be overlooked on that research tour as well.
Our community offers the fabulous Heritage Village with thousands of
interesting items from the past on display and of course beautifully
restored Elmwood must be included in that tour around town too.
Yes, I guess those 12 additional camping spots will take up a little
space in the park. They also create the possibilities of a significant
economic impact to a community that needs every dollar it has, just to
survive.
The Leistikow Park Campground is the only entity, I'm aware of, that
specifically addresses the needs of a group of people from outside the
area that actually do want to come to town to relax, and, as often as
not, to spend a little money too.
Or so it seems to me.
-----------------------------
There is still TWO DAYS LEFT to participate in the 2008 American
Legion / High School Baseball Calendar Drawing.
You will have 22 daily chances to win $50 and 5 chances to win the $100
Saturday draws.
Simply drop me a note telling me you have put your check in the mail,
and please include your address. I will fill out your lucky ticket and
make certain it gets in the barrel for the drawings.
I can't guarantee you'll win. I can, however, guarantee that you will
feel better for doing it.
Like the next note from the Smith's.

The BP gas station is officially closed this morning. Rumor has it that
it will remain so til the new "Real" Subway Sandwich Store reopens in
that location in a couple months or so. I also understand that location
will also continue to be a gas station as well.
It appears that the BP "free" coffee clutch crew will be taking up
residence in Mylo's former body shop across the street, just east of
Mac's Bottle Shop.
-------------------------
Work began this morning on the Leistikow Park Campground expansion.
Already one can get a good idea of what that project will look like when
completed.
--------------------------
Every day more and more pieces of pipeline equipment can be see around
town. The Stagging area is starting to take shape and the south piece is
already being used for newly arriving equipment.
I'm not sure what has happened to the "crows net" issue. It almost
seems like the area that was once fenced off, now has a mountain of
beautiful black Red River Valley topsoil piled there.
Maybe the crows aren't planning to migrate here this year. Or, maybe
crows quit migrating altogether, so it's okay to work close to their
nests.
---------------------------
I talked to Rocky Point resident Bill Hill yesterday and he told me
there was still more than enough snow up there to build a snowman. I
asked him if the fishing was going to be good at Arnesen's again this
year and he said, "absolutely". Of course,.... he didn't mention how the
catching would be.

I still have several (many) American Legion Baseball
Calendar Draw tickets looking for a lucky winner. Ticket holders will
have a chance to win $50 on the 22 weekday drawings and $50 for each of
the 5 Saturday drawings.
(only 400 total tickets will be sold,.... if we can even
sell them all.) Another way to look at it,.... is, all of the kids
involved with baseball end up winners with each ticket sold. Only 3 days
left to be included in the May Calendar drawing. Please consider helping
the Legionaires support and maintain the American Legion / high school
summer baseball program.
Simply drop me a note and let me know your check is in the
mail. I'll put your name on a "lucky" ticket and then I will make
certain your ticket gets into the drum in time for the drawing.
P.S.
Some folks have already figured out if all the tickets aren't sold,...
they'll have a lot better chance at winning.

This years Summerfest, will be celebrated during the last full weekend
of June and will feature copious amount of entertainment.
A partial list of activities includes such things as Elmwoods Rubarb
Fest, a Fantastic Fireworks Display, Several Food Courts, Rock Wall
Climbing and the KXPO Singing Competition. Everyone will be
Entertainment by Greg Hager in Leistikow Park.
The Kiwanis will be holding their annual Breakfast, and there will be a
Kids Dog Show again this year. The Car, Motorcycle & Snowmobile Show
this year is expected to be even bigger and better than ever. Everyone
will have the opportunity to explore the grounds of Heritage Village and
much of "Uncle Sigs" collection now housed at Heritage Village. The
Saturday morning parade could well be the best parade ever. And, as
always, there is the GHS Alumni Open House.
All of this, and much much more will keep young and old busy throughout
the entire Summerfest event.
However, one event that WILL NOT be held during this years Summerfest,
is Mad Dog Productions Ultimate Fighting.
It is my understanding, that members of the Summerfest Committee met
Thursday noon and decided it would be possible to have a safe and
successful Summerfest Celebration without including Mad Dog Productions
in the format.
----------------------
The pipeliners added 3 more administrative trailers to their stagging
area Thursday. In addition, several local contractors are busy digging
in needed power water and sanitary systems, at the stagging area site
and at the Leistikow Park Campground.

So far no word from the Chamber on the status of the proposed Ultimate
Fighting event scheduled for SummerFest. Although I continue hoping for
the best. I am still receiving many note expressing their concern. Sue
wanted to share the following in that regard. She wrote. >>>
Gary,
Here are my thoughts on the "different view" of the
proposed extreme fighting. If the responses you have gotten are not
"public participation", then I've got it wrong. And if strip clubs and
extreme fighting, etc. are not "imposing " morality on others, I guess I
don't understand that, either. I hope the majority of us can live
without both. Sue <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Sue. There really is a
difference between need and greed. Unfortunately, some folks struggle to
identify it.
+++++
This note expresses concerns about the proposed event a bit more
forcefully. >>>
Subject: The horror of this extreme fighting they plan to bring in.
Gary: I would like to vent my concerns to you about this horrible
form of entertainment they are planning for Summerfest days in Grafton
with the extreme fighting that is supposedly going to be
professionals. What can we as citizens of Grafton do about this?
Talking to several people, they all have the same idea that this is
absolutely absurd and surely is not good entertainment for anyone, old
or young. Imagine the impression and impact this will give younger
kids. It may create problems with school kids to be more aggressive
and engage in more fighting on the school grounds. How can this be
stopped? I think we the people of Grafton need to step in and try to
have this stopped before it begins, and gets out of hand. Surely
there must be enough sane people left in Grafton that would like to see
this event not take place during this Summerfest days of fun. Please
do not mention my name if you put this or any part of it in the
Gazette. But I would like to see if people would respond if you did
mention it in the Gazette. You decide. Hope we as a community can
do something about this. As ever, a concerned citizen. <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing. Unfortunately, we're living in
a very complex society. Within a few short weeks this spring, "we" spent
dozens of hours (or more) passing a city ordinance "banning" adult
activities behind closed doors in a establishment that only adults can
frequent. Yet,..... "we" allow a "Wine Walk" by which folks start
Tasting Wine at one business establishment, and, then continue doing so
throughout the community while visiting several other participating
businesses.
Then,.... it appears, so far at least, "our" business community has
agreed to let, what many folks refer to as "barbaric", Ultimate Fighting
into town to "entertain" the youth and citizens of our community.
ALL, I must add, at a time when everyone in town MUST STAY at least 100
feet away from the crows nests in the top of the trees in a shelter
belt, west of the Developmental Center.
Now ain't that just about enough to bunch up a tight pair of under
britches?
The trouble with trying to deal with really difficult topics now days
is, that everybody is willing to sing in the shower. Unfortunately,
nobody is willing to carry the tune to the public.
Or so it seems to me.
--------------------------
Now then,... on the lighter side. Duane wanted to share the following.
>>>
Subject: milk bottles
Gary -- I have been following your notes on the milk bottles and the
memories, long forgotten, have returned and I can see Ben Molde doing
his deliveries and even long before that, going into the creamery as a
small boy with my dad to get an ice cream cone and smell the warm,
humid air of the milk being processed. This was a big event for a
small boy from Crystal. Thanks for the memory ---- Duane Kargel <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Duane. It is the exchange of
thought that brings this great big world of ours, down to earth.

Good friend and Arnesen's Rocky Point resident Lloyd Hanson shared the
following information regarding another form of automotive energy. He
wrote: >>>> Gary:
I have a son-in-law in CA. who is driving his diesel car on used cooking
oil which is given to him by the restaurants in his area of LA. His only
modification was heat tape for the fuel lines and an extra 5 gallon fuel
tank in the trunk for diesel with an extra line to the injection pump
and a switch that allows him to run on either diesel or cooking oil. He
uses the diesel for starting only on cold mornings then switches to
cooking oil. The only drawback is the smell of a deep fat fryer when
standing near the car. The benefits are, of course, that he has spent
almost nothing for fuel in the last three years and the diesel engine
runs much more quietly on cooking fat and there is less soot residual
for the environment.
Diesel originally designed his engine to run on vegetable oil, not
petroleum. <<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Lloyd. I'm afraid if I tried to
drive a car on cooking oil, I would probably end up eating the seat
cushions.
After listening to C-span lately. What this country really needs,.....
is a car that runs on Bull-Excrement.

Although it has been close to fifty years since I've seen or talked to
Fred Cuthbert Jr. I do remember him well. I remember Fred as being one
of the more level headed individuals of the group I associated with. As
a matter of fact, compared to me, Fred always seemed to be in great
physical condition. He was without question smarter than me, and, he
could play basketball better than I could. His demeanor was generally
calm and collected, which meant he always had more friends than most
folks could ever hope for. I doubt that I ever pass by 935 Kittson
Avenue that I don't think of the Cuthbert's. Fred Jr. for his
friendship, and, Fred Sr. for being one of the few men I know that
actually "wanted" me to keep my mouth "open". (He was a dentist, you
know)
With sincere regret, and, with my deepest sympathies to the Fred
Cuthbert families. I share the passing of Fred Cuthbert Jr.
After more than a year and a half, hard fought battle, Fred lost his
life to cancer Tuesday, April 15 2008.
Freds wife, Ruth, is having his service on May 10 in Sparks, NV,
where they have lived for over 35 years. If anyone would like to send
condolences to her and their children, the address is 3456 Rocky Ridge
Blvd., Sparks NV, 89431-1300.
Fred's two brothers, James and John and his sister Sheryl Cuthbert Moe
will attend Fred's services
Unfortunately, due to health issues, Dorothy, Fred's mother, will not
be able to attend her sons memorial services in person. However, we can
rest assured she will be there in spirit.
Dorothy is 86 and a resident at Heartland Care Center in Devils
Lake. Her mailing address is 620 14th Ave. NE, Devils Lake, ND 58301
for those that would like to send her a card.
We bid John God's Speed and offer our sincere sympathies to the
Cuthbert families from my wife Pat, myself, and the entire Moe family

There seems to be a lot of activity around the stagging area although I
still can't see any sign of the crows. I did see a robbin sitting
alongside the road, however, I couldn't tell if she was looking for a
tree to build a nest or not.
-------------------------
I still have several American Legion Baseball tickets looking for
sponsors. It's a super way to show support to the high school/Legion
baseball program, and, if your lucky, you could even win one or more of
the drawings.

For those of you running vehicles that don't use spark plugs. Dale
shared the following. >>>> Gary.
Two gallons of diesel in Redding, CA. is $9.00. Dale Trudeau <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Dale. For a minute I thought
diesel was high in Grafton. Redding has us beat by 6 bits or better.

It looks like we've found the new owners of the vintage milk
containers. >>>>
Hi Gary
Just wanted to let you know that I did receive the milk bottles, and
they will be traveling all the way to Colorado. The Milk Co. brings back
alot of great memories, especially with my dad, but also Mary Votava and
Sophie Kasprick they were the two that I remember working behind the
counter. Thanks again
Marcia Molde Seeba <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Marcia.
It's possible one or more of those bottles were delivered to our house
by your father (Bennie) and, it's also possible they could have spent
time in the old Coronado refrigerator in our little house on Summit and
Tenth street.
----------------------------
I received the following "points to ponder" from one of our Rocky Point
friends.
~ During this political season let's be reminded of these wise words.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class
hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's
initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could
and should do for themselves. <<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Darrel. I have another one
that I would like to add to your list.
You'll never catch the biggest fish,.... if your partner runs the
ruler.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With deepest sympathies and sorrow to the DeSautel family. Pat and I,
along with our entire family share the following. >>>
For most folks, just being friendly, hard working and good neighbors
would be enough, That certainly isn't the case with two residents of
Grafton that most folks lovingly refer to, as The Twins.
Even though, I'm sure, it wasn't easy, the Twins have spent a lifetime
being devoted to each other and the community they called home.
They lost their parents at a very early age, yet somehow, they seemed
to find courage, when others might have given up. They devoted a major
portion of their careers working with the developmentally challenged at
the North Dakota State Developmental Center in Grafton. A commitment
everyone of us should be eternally grateful for.
Their warm friendly smiles as they travelled around the area
representing their Tupperware venture assured everyone who knew them,
that the Twins truly were "a cut above the rest". They exemplified the
term "caring and sharing", The Twins were active members of the Valley
Ambulance and Rescue Service for over 33 years. Carol and Connie have
given our community so much, never asking anything in return.
Another passion the Twins shared was collecting lighthouses. They have
a very extensive, impressive, display of lighthouses. An interest, I
might add, they also shared with my wife Pat, as she too collects
lighthouses.
It saddens me to share the passing of one who has lit the way for so
many others. For those of us fortunate enough to have known Carol. One
thing is certain, although she will no longer be here physically. She
will leave a glow in our hearts forever.
Tonight there will be two very important charitable events held in
Grafton. Christl Durand shared the following message a few days ago. Her
message is worth repeating again today. She wrote; >>>
Gary, It is unfortunate that tonight holds two very worthwhile
charitable events, Unity Medical Center Foundation 18th annual spring
Advanced tickets are available by calling 352-9372 or stop by the
Several individuals have written wondering about the status of the
Grafton Milk Company milk bottles.
As I understand it, they did get sold although I don't know to whom.
Several individuals expressed interest in them and everyone, that
contacted me, indicated they believed the bottles would be most
appreciated by members of the Molde family. And, of course, I couldn't
agree more.
--------------------------
I received the following question from Gail. >>>> Gary,
Could you explain what this extreme fighting event is going to
be? Are they "professionals" or people off the street, or wrestlers,
or boxers, or what? Sorry if I'm making you repeat yourself.
Evidently, I missed it the first time.
Thanks, Gail <<< Thank you for caring and sharing Gail. Extreme
Fighting or Ultimate Fighting has been reported by some as one of the
fastest growing "crazes" in the country. I believe it's popularity is
right up there with "gang beatings" and "street violence". I suspect
there are "Professionals" (that being people that actually do make some
money). I'm guessing the major money makers in the events are the
promoters such as Mad Dog Productions.
+++++++
There are as many different opinions about Extreme Fighting as there
are people. Of course the same could be said for exotic (pole) dancing
as well.
Tom shared these thoughts. >>>
Gary, I take Wendy*s approach to the "Fighting" thing. I feel
that this is PART (of course, only part) of our society that makes it ok
for our school children to loose respect for each other. After all
they see these exhibits that society deems acceptable!! <<<< Thanks a
million for caring and sharing Tom.
++++++++
This note takes a different direction on the same topic. >>>>
It would appear that the ultimate fighting thing could be decided by
public participation, not by someone imposing their morality on others.
Similar to the stripper issue. There used to be a strip club in Grand
Forks and there still is in Fargo from what I understand. Neither played
to a full house, the one in Fargo has a handful of people from what I
understand. One of the nice things about living in a free country is
you're free to participate or not participate in activities as you see
fit. I'd rather use my own judgement than depend on the government or
others to tell me what's right and what's not. <<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing. I am always fascinated by the
idea that we, shouldn't have, nor do we need, more government rules and
regulations. That "we" should be free to participate or not.
There really shouldn't be a "need" for speed limits, because "we"
should know better anyway. Or, that there shouldn't be a need to
regulate murder and mayhem on public streets simply because "we" will
always know whats best for us and not get involved,..... if we choose
not to.
The "proposed" Ultimate Fighting event will be staged on, in, or around
property that I pay taxes to support. I see that as more than sufficient
validation to express my personal dissatisfaction to exposing the
juveniles of this community to such brutality. Or so it seems to me.
-----------------------
Yesterdays mention of the problems migrating crows create gave Jan
reason to share the following. >>>> Hi Gary:
Was great seeing you on Saturday, what a great day it was for Grafton
businesses as well as Grafton and area folks. I read with
astonishment your words about the area of land around the crow's
nest being set aside for the use of the crows, in case they come back
to their nest. Our priorities seem to have changed drastically if
crows, being the menace that they are, are given this much respect!!
Where is the respect for mankind???
Jan Burns <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Jan. It's
times like this that the only rational response I have is. "Things will
go along like this for awhile,...... and then they'll get worse."
Grafton's KXPO / KAUJ Radio and Country Smokehouse "Taste of Home
Cooking School" extravaganza held at the high school was a HUGE SUCCESS.
Hundreds and hundreds of folks attended the event last Saturday. The
weather simply couldn't have been better and the same can be said of the
50 plus booths set up for the event.
It certainly was wonderful to see so many business establishments band
together to display their wares. It was also wonderful seeing so many
folks from all over the area attend. I met people from Park River,
Minto, Cavalier, St.Thomas, Drayton, Stephen, Grand Forks, Oakwood,
Neche and even as far away as Walhalla. I'm sure there were folks from
other areas too, I just didn't get a chance to see them.
I would like to thank all of those involved, for making Grafton a
destination city on such a beautiful spring day.
------------------------
Mike shared the following "sign of spring" from his home near Grand
Forks. He wrote; >>> Gary, for all pet owners, I picked a tick off
myself yesterday at work and a couple off my very special friend mooshay
the springer spaniel. Just thought I would pass along to all pet owners.
--------------------------
I still have several (many) American Legion Baseball Calendar Draw
tickets looking for a lucky owner. Ticket holders will have a chance to
win $50 on the 22 weekday drawings and $50 for each of the 5 Saturday
drawings.
(only 400 total tickets will be sold)
Another way to look at it,.... is, all of the kids involve with
baseball win with each ticket sold. Only 10 days left to be included in
on the May Calendar drawing. Please consider helping the Legionaires
help maintain summer baseball.
--------------------------
The next note may give some folks the idea that my daughter Wendy is
her fathers daughter. For those folks, let me assure you. Wendy is the
kind of person that makes up her own mind, and (maybe a little like her
dad) she isn't afraid to share it. Wendy is speaking specifically of the
proposed Ultimate (extreme) Fighting event scheduled at the Centennial
Center during SummerFest. Some may remember that I too have stated I am
vigorously opposed to bringing such "entertainment" to our community.
Wendy wrote; >>>>
Although I am only ONE person (last time I checked) I will be one of
the first to say...If this is what summerfest has come to...I will NOT
be enjoying the festivities this year. I have always thought of it as a
GREAT FAMILY weekend to get together and in fact we have had our
"Nanagirls" birthday party SummerFest Saturday after the parade (she
still believes the parade has always been in honor of her birthday). I
will not support, in any fashion, violence, even if those in charge
CHOOSE to call it entertainment... Anyone want to go fishing and spend a
GREAT FAMILY picnic with the Arnesen's over that weekend with me?????
<<<< Thanks a million for CARING and sharing Wendy. I might also add
that Wendy and I are not the only ones negative toward the scheduled
Extreme fighting event. I am pleased to report that many many others
have expressed the same concern.
The chamber has not committed any money to this barbaric event, so
it's cancellation wouldn't cost the community anything. Although I have
not talked to every member of the Chamber board, I do know all of them
do not agree with the fighting event. If, the powers that be do in fact
decide our community "needs" such entertainment.
I most certainly would expect that ONLY those of legal (21) age would
be allowed to watch it, with no "minors" allowed.
--------------------------
----- PIPELINE - NEWS -----
The new "stagging area" west of the Developmental Center is proof
positive "some" rules and regulations, relative to animals with two arms
and two legs (people) can be very costly, if not exceptionally stupid.
Case in point. There is a Crows nest,... yup, I speak of those very
large black birds that eat other birds eggs and steel french fries out
of Westside Drive Inn's garbage cans. Anyway, there's a couple crows
nests in the trees in the middle of the "stagging area", SO the pipeline
company had to fence off an area 100 feet in every direction around the
nests. Mind you, the nests were empty, yes I did say empty. However,
that doesn't seem to matter. No-one can come within 100 feet of those
nest's.
I was told, the reason is, that black birds are considered migrants
and no-one can interrupt their migratory homes.
And, we wonder why it cost's $6.80 to fill a two gallon gas can!?!?!?
Gary, With much sadness I write to let you know that Grafton has
lost one of its best. This morning Carol DeSautel went to be with the
It was 89 degrees on this date in 1987.
L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
------------------------
Today is the first Skeeterville edition of the "Skeeter Season". It is
the first day the average daily low temperature reaches 32 degree
(above). It is the time to put the snowcats and snowblowers in the shed,
and to drag the Walleye Combine out and start sharpening up fishhooks.
Before long, it will also be time to head to Arnesen's Rocky Point. If
you haven't booked your cabin at Rocky Point, this would be a super time
to do so. You can check out their web site at Arnesens.com and see all
the things they have to offer. If you poke around the website long
enough, you'll even find a picture of me catching fish. (or trying to)
There is even a picture of our motorhome in there somewhere. Then,
before you log off, "book a cabin".
It's a super place to go fishing, and, the food at Rock Harbor Lodge is
fantastic.
------------------------
It's no-longer simply a rumor. Mad Dog Productions are in fact bringing
their extreme disregard for the human body show to Grafton during the
2008 Summerfest Celebration. That is to say, so far at least, they are
still scheduled to be here. Personally, I am hoping some resemblance of
sanity will eventually set in with the powers that be, and
(appropriately named) Mad Dog's Production's will be cancelled.
How many times, lately, have we heard someone equate the latest rash of
shootings and gang fights to the publicity they gain over the news
media?
Suddenly now, it appears, we believe that exposing the kids in are area
to such brutality they won't go out and practice the art themselves.
Some folks have suggested that "Extreme Fighting" is a form of Martial
Art. Given the other crazy things going on in the world today, I suppose
that might even be possible. As far as I'm concerned, however, a Extreme
Fighting event is about as close to "art" as a nudist beach is to a
fashion show.
Or so it seems to me.
I can also assure you that Scott & Peppi Robideaux, along with their
Ultimate Gym Organization, do not condon such shananigens.
-------------------------
It sure is fun getting questions I can actually answer. Like the
following question from Diann. She wrote. >>>>
Gary, I checked your Gazette today cause I am wondering what all the
digging is about west of the City building on School Road. Can you
find out? <<<
Thanks for asking such an easy question. The area just west of the
Developmental Center will be used as a "stagging area" for the pipeline
company that will be laying down the oil pipeline from Canada through
North Dakota.
We might expect as many as 400 pipeline workers in the area for the
next few months. The Leistikow Park camp grounds will also be getting a
much needed significant upgrade to accommodate the demand expected this
summer.
The fact that the stagging area will be in Grafton, also means we can
expect a significant economic impact in the community as well. There is
no doubt that the preparations for those folks will cost the Park
Department more money. The campgrounds will have improved electrical
services and possibly even a few additional camp sites. All of which
"should" be done regardless of the pipeline. All of which will help our
entire community for many years to come.
-------------------------
I'm pleased to share the next note.
Hello Gary
I just wanted to thank you for promoting Kelly's benefit and was hoping
that you would also include Kelly's thank you in the Gazette. Not
everyone gets the Record and we would like to reach as many people as
possible. The benefit was a huge success and we are blessed to live in
such a caring community. Keep up the good work and thank you for
providing a means of communicating with so many others. Thanks again
Kris Molde.
First and foremost, I would like to thank the organizers of
my benefit, Liz Daby, Sharon Lipsh, Maggie Campbell and LuAnn Kotnik.
Thank you Susie Corneillie for allowing us to have the event at
Marketplace. Without you amazing ladies this event would not have
happened. Thank you to all the businesses and individuals for the food
donations that made the wonderful meal possible. The silent auction
and bake sale were a huge success. Thank you to everyone who donated
auction items, baked goods or made cash donations. A huge thank you to
all the businesses and individuals for your contributions as well as all
the volunteers who helped in so many ways to make this event a success.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that
attended the event. Sometimes the best things in life aren't things at
all but people like you.
Rumors are those crazy little creatures that inhabit the cracks and
crannies of most Caffeine Distribution Centers around the country.
Rumors can also be heard around card tables, in the doctors office and,
I suspect, since the invention of the telephone, it too, has become one
of the major sources for distributing stories that may, or may not, be
factual.
Fortunately, many rumors actually do, in fact, become reality.
Unfortunately, some rumors fail the sniff test as well. Such is the case
with the rumor that Embroidery Plus would have someone new running their
backroom sewing machine.
I can be reasonably assured Embroidery Plus won't be switching anything
anytime soon because Denise shared the following note. >>>> WHOA!!!
The rumor part about Embroidery Plus is definitely completely
one-hundred percent wrong. I'm not going anywhere. We thoroughly
Grafton and potentially expand.
Speaking about businesses with energy and effort. Grafton's Radio
Station KXPO is celebrating it's 50th anniversary. Our radio station has
always been a significant benefit to Grafton and it's entire broadcast
area. That being said, I must hasten to add that KXPO, in recent months,
has (in my opinion) significantly improved it's value to their broadcast
area.
When KXPO radio says they believe "we" would all be better off shopping
at home. They truly mean it. And when they say shop at home, they're not
suggesting that Park River folks come to Grafton and shop. Nor are they
suggesting that the folks in Drayton should shop in Cavalier, or any
other such configuration.
KXPO spends alot of time (air) and energy trying to convince all of us,
"to Simply Shop at Home". They are, for instance, suggesting I shop in
my hometown, and, that you shop in yours.
It's a relatively simple idea that can, and will, provide exceptional
returns. (It has been written; The Lord helps them, that help
themselves) KXPO's theory, I think, is that "communities will help
those, that help their communities." (I certainly agree)
This Saturday, April 19th 2008, KXPO 1340 / KAUJ 101 Radio Station,
Today is the day Robert W. (Bob) Levos will celebrate the anniversary
of his birth. Many of you already know Bob, worked his way up the
American Crystal Sugar Company ladder from Storeroom floorman to Vice
President of Agriculture. Those that didn't know that, do now. Many of
you already know that Bob was always considered to be a very big man, in
the sugar business. Of course, being several inches over 6 feet tall
helped many to believe that premise.
Over the years Bob accomplished numerous tasks and challenges. Getting
cleanest. Now that I think about it. Jack DeSautel didn't get out of
Fields are still to wet for any appreciable amount of field work.
Farmers are itching to get started. Although, I have heard rumors of
some soil scratching west of here. Most, if not all, of last winters
snowmen are heading for Hutson's bay on an iceberg.
-----------------------
Contractors started removing the car wash from the former BP gas
station on the corner of Hill and 17. That's the first "visible sign
from the street" that Lee Robertson's former Standard Oil service
station will become a Subway Sandwich Shop complete with a new and
improved car wash.
~~~~~
It looks like Denny's former Food Pride building is "almost" ready to
become Grafton's new home for the Home of Economy store.
~~~~~
The latest hometown rumor mill has two downtown businesses changing
proprietors. Of course I haven't heard word directly from the present
owners, so for now it will have to remain simple caffeine conversation.
I heard the sewing machine at Embroidery Plus will be run by someone
new, over the first cub of coffee. Then, by the time I needed a refill,
I heard the folks at the daily grind were tired of cranking the coffee
grinder there and that someone else might be taking over that task too.
Both of those business establishments have contributed much to the
downtown business district of our community.
~~~~
So far I haven't been able to confirm the validity of the rumor about a
proposed exhibition of human mutilation (extreme fighting) planned for
this years SummerFest.
-------------------------
Sami walked Pat and me passed Rick & Nan Peterson's house last night.
The large Red & White "Home for Sale" sign out front certainly turns
that rumor to reality. Rick and Nan Peterson really are retiring,
selling there home, and, they will be moving to Walter's Wonderland
later this summer.
-------------------------
I'm pleased so many Gazette family members have helped so much in the
Annual Legion Baseball calendar drawing over the past few years.
Here is how it works. During the month of May there will be 22 Weekday
drawings for $50 each and, 5 Saturday Draws for $100 each. There will
only be 400 tickets sold and the tickets are only $20 each.
Please give this worthwhile project your serious consideration.
If you you can find it in your heart, and if your bank account allows.
Please make the a check out payable to American Legion Baseball and send
it to Gary Moe at 764 Birch Court, Grafton, North Dakota 58237. And,...
please drop me a note letting me know that your check is in the mail, so
that I can set aside the tickets you would like.
I still have lots of tickets. Unfortunately, however, with less
than two weeks remaining til the drawing, time is at a premium.

Remember the Teen Challenge Banquet. Teen Challenge is located in
Bismarck and is a Faith Based Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. It
is very effective, contrary to conventional treatment centers. It works
by putting students in a very rigorous daily bible study and chapel
programs for a 13 month treatment program. It is truly amazing what the
power of God can do when we use him. Barb Whelan and I are on the
Board of Directors for our State. It has been a very successful and
rewarding adventure. There are about 90 students in the center now.
At the banquet we are going to have the Choir sing and most of all
have about 5 or 6 give there testimonies. Kevin Kramer is MC. Hope
you can attend or spread the word. We sent out over 10,000
invitations in Fargo, GF and Grafton.
We hope one of the following dates and locations will be convenient.
Grand Forks: Alerus Center April 21, Grafton: Market Place April 22,
Fargo: Ramada Plaza Suites April 24, Minneapolis: Downtown Hilton April
25,
You can RSVP online: www.tc4hope.org or e-mail: rsvp@tc4hope.org, or

I noticed Country Realty sold another house in town this week. This one
is on West 5th street. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the
Jorgensen's once called that house a home, back when Asst. Chief of
Police Bill Janousek used to nap on the corner of Hill Avenue and 5th
street.
-----------------------
It's funny how rumors get started. For instance just the other day,
someone said "we" were planning to bring the newest "blood and guts"
craze to Grafton for this years SummerFest. (June 26-28 2008)
Of course I said that can't be. Actually, I might have said "that's
bull-excrement". (I cleaned that up a bit for the kids and the clergy).
Anyway, I have seen the kind of knock down, drag out, beat a person to
smithereens fighting this person was referring to on television.
Words like brutal, barbaric, wicked and animalistic doesn't even come
close to describing accurately the "practice" my friend was describing.
I said, again, I can't believe anyone would allow such barbarianism into
our town.
Especially,... I added, because we have already "banned" certain types
of sleazy entertainment even though that was for, and by, consenting
adults. All, I might add, over the age of 21, AND,.... that was being
done behind closed doors.
No-way, I continued, would "our" little community foster the battering,
and body mutilating process resulting from what is commonly referred to
as "Extreme Fighting".
I even mentioned the special on a national TV network where 6 year old
boys were featured practicing the "art".
Then too, I used the rational, that very few, if any, consenting legal
adults actually did observe the sleazy events "our" latest ordinance
prohibits. They most certainly wouldn't even be able to emulate them,...
pole, or no pole.
So, as I walked away, being almost certain my rational was right. I
couldn't help but think. Crazier things have happened..... And,.... for
less money.
Gosh I sure hope that rumor was wrong.
Or so it seems to me.
---------------------------
Speaking of kids and all the wonderful things that can happen to them
with the proper supervision. It is time for the Grafton High School /
American Legion Baseball summer program. As most folks are aware, until
just a few years ago the Grafton Legionaires supplied most and sometimes
all of the funds needed to run the Legion Baseball program.
With the loss of our local Legion Club and even more importantly, with
the loss of a significant portion of our local Legion membership. It is
necessary to look toward various other fundraisers to maintain the
original American Legion Baseball program.
I'm pleased so many Gazette family members have helped so much in the
Annual Legion Baseball calendar drawing over the past few years. Here is
how it works. During the month of May there will be 22 Weekday drawings

tickets sold and the tickets are only $20 each.
Even though this is the first day I have mentioned the Legion tickets.

Thanks a million for caring and sharing Tom. You have just shared
your message to a whole gaggle of folks in 24 states and 2 foreign
countries. Over the years I have become more and more convinced that
dealing with problems of drug and alcohol abuse "must" begin with people
when they first start pushing their babies carriages.

Speaking of money, both saving it, and spending it wisely. Ralph
Kingsbury, for instance, will save enough money wishing Bob Levos a
happy birthday in the Gazette that I'll be able to put him down for a
couple American Legion Baseball Tickets. Isn't that right Ralph?
Then too, I wonder, how many can still remember the day the payloader
got stuck at the Nash Piling site. Does anyone remember Jack DeSautel
suggesting it wouldn't be that big a deal pulling it out? I'll bet Bob
Levos does.

Normal H/L temp for this date is 53/30
It was 80 degrees on this date in 1980. Evidently Al Gore hasn't spent
much time researching temperatures in northern North Dakota. We spend

cussing skeeter bites, and the other half treating frost bite.

This past Saturday, Denise, Jadrian, Tyler, Trevor, Dilan, Pat and I
took a quick trip to Pembina. When we returned we stopped in Hastings
Landing for dinner. (lunch for you folks south of St. Paul).
All seven of us ordered a variety of items from the menu. I am very
pleased to report that absolutely everything was fantastic, prices were
reasonable. And, for those that remember the fantastic onion rings at
the Grand Forks A&W Root Beer Drive Inn and at Whitey's in East Grand
Forks. The onion rings I had at Hastings Landing in Drayton on Saturday
were every bit as good, or better. If that's possible.
Congratulations Drayton!!! You certainly do have a restaurant worth
stopping at.

Thanks a million John & Debbie Aasand!
Pat and I attended the 2008 Mens World Curling Championship game at The
Ralph yesterday. Our "once in a life time" experience was made possible,
courtesy of John & Debbie Aasand.
Team Canada won the event. They did, in fact, "champion" over the folks
from the Land of Skirts and Scottish Whiskey. Although I am not a curler
- I can't even use a kitchen broom properly - it was apparent I was
watching world class curling at it's best.
From our "premium seats" I was able to make another interesting and
significant observation. That being, most, if not all, folks involved in
the sport of curling, not only practice good sportsmanship on the ice,
they do so in the stands as well. Even though it was quite obvious to me
that the majority of the fans Sunday were waving red and white flags
with a Maple Leaf (or wanted to), most of them would clap and cheer even
when their opponents would play a excellent rock.
Somehow, it sure felt wonderful seeing the Canadian flag flying highest
in the Ralph Sunday. Then too, I took solace in the fact, "if it
couldn't be US, I was pleased it was Canada".
If I had known the "Rock the Ralph Jackets" were made of denim and
looked so neat, I might have been willing to volunteer for a chubby
persons position.
One thing I am sure of,.... I wouldn't look very good at all,.... in a
kilt, with a broom in my hand,.... drinking Scotch Whiskey.
Thanks again John and Debbie, for allowing Pat and me the opportunity
of a lifetime. Thanks also to the Choice Financial Organization for
providing the suite for the World Event. And,... Thanks to the
Management and staff of The Ralph Engelstad Arena for their continued
professional maintenance and presentation of North Dakota's "Premier
Activity Facility".
------------------------
I am very pleased to report that the Grafton Milk bottles I mentioned
last week have (as I understand it) found a most fitting and appropriate
home. I received several inquiries about the bottles, and, I heard
various opinions of why people were interested in them. Every single
person that wrote, or called, said they believed the bottles "rightfully
belonged" with members of the Molde family. And, I might add, I couldn't
agree more.
There is a great possibility that Bennie Molde delivered milk in those
bottles, very likely, more than once, and, probably even to my own
house.
+++++
I am also pleased to announce that we are no-longer looking for a good
used washer or dryer either. As a mater of fact, I seems we have
actually found another washer and dryer for sale plus a freezer. All are
only one year and they are presently located in Fargo.
--------------------------
== SHIVERCITY to SKEETERVILLE ==
We are rapidly approaching the time of the year when "skeeter bites"
will be replacing "frost bites" as a primary topic of conversation at
local caffeine fountains.
You may have noticed that todays average H/L temperature is 53/30
degrees. When the "L" hits 32, literary metamorphosis, of sorts, will
set in and the Shivercity Gazette will become The Skeeterville Gazette.
I'm pretty sure, at one time, I even had (for me at least) a very good
reason for using both monikers. Unfortunately, I'll be darned if I can
remember what it was at this point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I realize this is a few days early, however, I wanted to be certain
that I didn't forget it. Thursday, April 17 is the anniversary of Bob
Levos' birth. Bob and I are the same age for eight days every year.
Thursday he will, once again, become a year older than me.
=== HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bob ===
I am still receiving notes regarding Tom's flood photo's. I'm sure many
Subject: 48 and 50 floods; Miss Cora Lykken
Dear Gary, Susan and I look forward to the Gazette each day.
We appreciate keeping in touch with what is transpiring in Grafton and
the area as well as reading correspondence from folks that we know.
The recent correspondence regarding the 48 flood and Miss Cora Lykken
brought back lots of memories from those days in Grafton. I recall
both the 48 and 50 floods very well as I grew up right next to the river
just south of the Wakeman Ave. bridge. My bedroom was on the north
side of the house, so I had a very good view of the river and the
bridge. I recall the huge ice jams that built up at the Wakeman Ave.
bridge and watching the men who planted dynamite charges in the ice
jams. I heard and saw the explosions that resulted in breaking up the
very large sheets of ice so they would slide under the water and pass
under the bridge. During both those floods our home was surrounded by
water but there was no water in our yard or home. My sisters and I
played in the yard with flood waters all around us. My father, Carl
Torkelson, was the official water level recorder/reporter for the
city. He would take the water level readings in a little building
next to the Wakeman Ave. bridge and send them to Bismarck on a regular
basis. During the floods, the city would park the fire trucks at my
father's Standard Service station as that was a higher spot to keep them
out of the water and accessible.
When Miss Lykken retired and there was a big celebration to honor her
many years of teaching in Grafton, my parents, my three sisters and I
had our picture taken with her as all six of us had her as a teacher.
I had Miss Lykken as a Sunday School teacher also. Miss Lykken wrote
several letters of encouragement to me during the time I was in college
at Mayville State. Although she was very strict in the classroom, she
was a very kind and thoughtful person.
Thanks for providing the Gazette to keep our memories of Grafton alive
and keeping us informed about Grafton today.
Robert Torkelson <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Robert.
I find it interesting that the folks in Grand Forks don't want to
fixup the Riverside Swimming pool because it is on "the wrong side of
the dike". Ironically everything in Grafton, is on the wrong side of the
dike. Actually, we don't even have a dike to be on the wrong side of.
Or so it seems to me.
Thanks! Also, it would be appreciated if this message could be
~~~ Dear Family and Friends ~~~
April is National Autism Awareness month.
As some of you know, our fourth child Ethan was diagnosed with
Autism 2 years ago. He developed "normal" despite some speech delays
and at around 18 months he started loosing everything he had learned. He
could no longer mumble sounds, he destroyed toys and could not play, he
cried, he was sick all the time with chronic ear infections and
pneumonia, he could not point, he never slept and he banged his head.
When Ethan was diagnosed, we were told of a therapy to try called
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This was a therapy that was not
covered by insurance, and there were no providers in our area.
Additionally, we were told that in order for Ethan to have the best
possible outcome, he needed 40 hours of it and Ethan didn't need to be
seen for a year.
We found someone who we describe our angel, Sonia, who would
guide our family and also helped us train a team of people to do ABA
therapy at home, 1:1 for Ethan. This is where the hope started. Ethan
started to learn and understand, and most importantly...speak.
But despite the therapy progress, Ethan was still very ill, was not
sleeping, and had many other issues. And through lots of research we
found the Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) protocol through Talk About Curing
Autism (TACA) (www.tacanow.org). Now this is where everything started
making sense. The healthier the body equals less autistic symptoms.
That is exactly what we wanted.
We found out that Ethan was allergic to eggs, milk and wheat and
were making him ill. We started him on a special diet and he really
started to get better. We got stricter with the diet and then started
the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and he really started feeling even
better. We were seeing much progress in his therapy because of this.
It has been 2 years since this journey has began, and Ethan is
doing so well. We still have things we are working on but we are
grateful to say we have a little boy who points, talks, laughs, sleeps,
does not bang his head, plays with his brother and sisters and cousins,
loves the lake and loves to go to birthday parties.
I do not like asking for money, but I feel that the organization
TACA has given us our child back and for that we are eternally grateful.
Since it is Autism Awareness month, I am asking you to donate to TACA so
families can keep helping families with Autism to help get children
better. We are starting our own TACA ND chapter at the end of this month
in Grand Forks, ND and we are really excited to most importantly give
parents hope because Autism IS Treatable.
I am including Ethan's fundraising website
www.firstgiving.com/ethansuda4tacanow and also a website of Ethan at
his friend Tommy's birthday party.
homepage.mac.com/joekern/Ethan/iMovieTheater12.html
As you can see, he is doing pretty DARN good. (He is in the glasses
and blue shirt.) Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Autism
is a marathon, not a sprint......and every little bit of progress is a
miracle.
Love you all and God Bless ~
Donny, Jalene, Zach, Emma, Isabella and most importantly ETHAN.
