L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
------------------------
So far, Leistikow Park Campground has 5 pipeliners living there. It
also appears as though a office "type" trailer has been moved onto the
stagging area site.
There seems to be a lot of activity around the stagging area although I
still can't see any sign of the crows. I did see a robbin sitting
alongside the road, however, I couldn't tell if she was looking for a
tree to build a nest or not.
-------------------------
I still have several American Legion Baseball tickets looking for
sponsors. It's a super way to show support to the high school/Legion
baseball program, and, if your lucky, you could even win one or more of
the drawings.
--------------------------
For those of you running vehicles that don't use spark plugs. Dale
shared the following. >>>> Gary.
Two gallons of diesel in Redding, CA. is $9.00. Dale Trudeau <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Dale. For a minute I thought
diesel was high in Grafton. Redding has us beat by 6 bits or better.
-------------------------
It looks like we've found the new owners of the vintage milk
containers. >>>>
Hi Gary
Just wanted to let you know that I did receive the milk bottles, and
they will be traveling all the way to Colorado. The Milk Co. brings back
alot of great memories, especially with my dad, but also Mary Votava and
Sophie Kasprick they were the two that I remember working behind the
counter. Thanks again
Marcia Molde Seeba <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Marcia.
It's possible one or more of those bottles were delivered to our house
by your father (Bennie) and, it's also possible they could have spent
time in the old Coronado refrigerator in our little house on Summit and
Tenth street.
----------------------------
I received the following "points to ponder" from one of our Rocky Point
friends.
~ During this political season let's be reminded of these wise words.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class
hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's
initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could
and should do for themselves. <<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Darrel. I have another one
that I would like to add to your list.
You'll never catch the biggest fish,.... if your partner runs the
ruler.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With deepest sympathies and sorrow to the DeSautel family. Pat and I,
along with our entire family share the following. >>>
For most folks, just being friendly, hard working and good neighbors
would be enough, That certainly isn't the case with two residents of
Grafton that most folks lovingly refer to, as The Twins.
Even though, I'm sure, it wasn't easy, the Twins have spent a lifetime
being devoted to each other and the community they called home.
They lost their parents at a very early age, yet somehow, they seemed
to find courage, when others might have given up. They devoted a major
portion of their careers working with the developmentally challenged at
the North Dakota State Developmental Center in Grafton. A commitment
everyone of us should be eternally grateful for.
Their warm friendly smiles as they travelled around the area
representing their Tupperware venture assured everyone who knew them,
that the Twins truly were "a cut above the rest". They exemplified the
term "caring and sharing", The Twins were active members of the Valley
Ambulance and Rescue Service for over 33 years. Carol and Connie have
given our community so much, never asking anything in return.
Another passion the Twins shared was collecting lighthouses. They have
a very extensive, impressive, display of lighthouses. An interest, I
might add, they also shared with my wife Pat, as she too collects
lighthouses.
It saddens me to share the passing of one who has lit the way for so
many others. For those of us fortunate enough to have known Carol. One
thing is certain, although she will no longer be here physically. She
will leave a glow in our hearts forever.
