L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

This morning, as "our" Ohio Fox Hunting friends walked into Granny's
for the very last time, this year. I couldn't help thinking how lucky
"our" little community is to have such a fantastic group of true
sportsman choose Grafton as their winter hunting destination. How
fortunate that the Leonard Motel serves as their favorite Hunting Lodge
and that they have designated Grafton's Granny's Restaurant as their
"Breakfast Nook" of choice. We (our little community) should also be
pleased that "our" Ohio Fox Hunting Friends truly enjoy and appreciate
the Fantastic Food, Facilities and Service that the MarketPlace on 8th
here in Grafton provides them and everyone throughout the area.
I must admit that I am also very much impressed and appreciative of
their hunting attitude in general. They always leave me with the feeling
that they definitely are just as interested in the camaraderie and
process of the hunt, as they are the hunted.
To coin a phrase I have often used, with just a slight variation. They
might say, "hunting is always fantastic, sometimes we even find what
we're hunting."
Our friends left us today but they're not taking everything back to
Ohio with them. They left behind numerous memories of the conversations
our breakfast group enjoyed during the past 11 mornings at Granny's.
They left behind many wonderful memories of a evening full of caring and
sharing at the MarketPlace on 8th. They also left our little community,
and, all those that know then,.... very anxiously awaiting their return
next winter.
And,.... as if all of that wasn't enough. "Our" Ohio Fox Hunting
Friends left us with a significant monetary contribution. Because, they
say, "we want to give a little something back to the community".
That my friends,....... is why I call the wonderful group of fantastic
guys from Ohio,.. "Our Ohio Fox Hunting Friends".

Empty buildings isn't only a small town malady. In fact the larger the
city, the more sailboat storage facilities they harbor (pardon the pun).
It is true that the former Penny's building will need a pile of
dollars and a new owner to get back into business. The Getz Drug
building is presently being heated, I suspect hoping for a hot prospect
and then there's the former Walsh County Bank building. I'm guessing
there never was enough money in the vault of the former bank to
resurrect the building sufficient to sustain a viable business.
On the other hand, there is one former, single tenant, building
downtown that is adding to the list of active business establishments.
Some still refer to the building as the former Northwestern Bell
Telephone building. I have taken the liberty of "naming" it, The Tower
Building.
Anyway, the building has evolved from a telephone building to the
offices of KXPO Radio. Presently the Tower Building houses all, or, part
of no less than five individual businesses establishments plus an
apartment.
The latest business venture to join the downtown Tower Building group
is Jon Jelinek's Chiropractic Clinic.
Welcome to Grafton Jon, we wish you and your new business venture the
very best.
