L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

If one would drive by Rick's Repair (the former Heritage Ford
Chrysler building) and count the number of U-Haul moving vans in Rick's
lot. One might get the idea that the Grafton area is enjoying a
significant influx of people. I have recently counted as many as eight
(8) vans in Rick's Repair Shop parking lot.
It's easy to see how that, coupled with the shiny new Cadillac,
parked in front of Barbs Property Management Co. with a out of town
license plate on it, just might draw the conclusion that Grafton's
Growing, really is showing. And,.... we haven't even mentioned the
possibility of a new tenant moving into the former Penny's building.

HASN'T - ANYONE - NOTICED???
Our new president, Barack H. Obama, bears a striking resemblance to Joe
Famelette, one of American Crystal Sugars earlier CEO's. During his
tenure with ACS many referred to him as "Smokin Joe". Or so it seems
to me.

Speaking of Grafton's Growing showing.
I received the following note from Eric in that regard. He wrote: >>>
Hi Gary,
Just wanted to pass a little note along that EBI Computer Services is
now called Wiser Technology Solutions and has officially become part of
the WISER, LLC family. We will also be moving into the same area that
Erick Solvedt is currently remodelling in the ol' KXPO facilities (The
Tower Building) across from Roger's Corner Cut. Just one of the many
things that will be offered under WTS is the result of a new contract
agreement between WISER and LogMeIn software called the Wiser LogMeIn
Remote Support Client. This tiny piece of software, available at the
website http://www.wiserworks.com allows my technicians and I to fix
common computer problems without forcing the customer to take time out
of their day to wait for us AND saves the customer the frustration of
detaching the mess of cables to bring the computer to us for repair.
Remote repairs are much cheaper for a couple reasons. First, the rate is
$20 less per hour than we charge for on-site repair and secondly the
customer doesn't have to pay the extra costs for drive time, etc. The
clock starts the second we begin working on the computer and stops the
second we are done. For a limited time we will be capping off remote
repairs at 3 hours. This means that even if you have a serious virus
infection that takes a very long time to fix you won't pay us more than
3 hours of time. It should be said that not EVERY problem can be fixed
this way but about 85% of the problems plaguing computer users these
days certainly can. I hope your subscribers will give us a try. The
client also gives us the option to offer these services on a broader
scale. I know many of your readers are out of state and we will be very
happy to serve them as well! Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Eric
Burley

Thanks a million for caring and sharing Eric. It's wonderful to
see a building that once held little more than sailboat fuel, become a
significant contribution to the downtown Grafton business district.

If the subject is Curling, and it is...... It's a well known fact
that Grafton is recognized, around the "world",
as a championship curling community. Hence, is should not be surprising
that many "champion" curlers learned their curling craft in the Grafton
Curling Rink.
Such is the case with Beverly and Scott Boura's son David. Scott
wrote; >>>
The tradition of Grafton producing quality curlers
continues. Son, David, and his teammates from Grand Forks won the ND
Men's Championship in several nail biting games (at least if you are a
curling fan). They will be going on to the US Nationals at Utica New
York in March. David got his start at the Grafton club and is hooked for
life.
Scott Boura <<< Congratulations David, we wish you the very
best of luck in Unica. And,... should you make it all the way to the
World Curling Championship Tournament........... Don't jump!!!!

REMINDER - REMINDER - REMINDER
Please don't forget the 42nd annual St.Thomas Booster Club Fish
Fry this Saturday.
You will not only be helping the entire community. The St.Thomas
Booster Club works exceedingly hard to maintain their wonderful little
community........ AND,..... the Walleye Tastes Fantastic.

It saddens me to report the passing of one of Grafton's
finest educators. Folks like Herb simply don't come along very often
and, unfortunately, when they do, they don't stay around as long as we
would like. Herb won't have to apologize to anyone for the length of his
dash. ~~ (May 8, 1922 - January 19, 2009) ~~
