March 25, 2008 - Tuesday

(early)

Todays Gazette is being brought to you, in part, by the Minto Cafe.
-----------------------
The current temperature is 31
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 26/11
Normal H/L temp for this date is 38/21
The next few days are also expected to be "below" normal temperatures,
so I'm guessing they won't make Al's next movie,...... either.

"Profanity makes ignorance audible."
=======================
Tuesday's Gazette is going out early because I have a Dr's. appointment
the first thing in the morning. Actually, when I think about it. I feel
as strong as an ox, I eat like a pig, I sleep like a cat laying in the
sun and I'm as stubborn as a mule. Dog gone bugger heck shucks, maybe I
should be going to see a Veterinarian.
I wonder if the Kindness Animal Hospital in Grand Forks, has an
opening for a short fat Norwegian, with a limp???
--------------------------
Rumor on the street is that Rick & Nann Pedersen have found a nice
retirement residence in the windy peninsula east of the Gulf. If that's
a fact, then it follows that the house on the other end of my block will
be looking for new names on the mailbox in the next month or two.
It's a great location, right across from the Centennial Center and the
high school. It would be a super place for a farmer as the property line
touches three implement dealers and automobile dealer and is just across
the street from an aerial spray applicator.
-------------------------
I didn't even have the entire Gazette list sent out yet and Chuck sent
the following regarding the 48 flood. He wrote. >>>>
Would like to get a copy of Toms flood pictures. How? I still have a
big envelop of pictures from the flood that my dad had collected.
Seems like yesterday. The flood of 1950 was bigger but was handled
better because of the experience of 1948.
Chuck Stenso <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Chuck. The
booklet Tom put together also has a great picture of Stenso Motors.
--------------------------
When I took todays "Weekly Source" out of the mailbox. The first thing
I noticed was large print saying the Minto Cafe will be going out of
business. Their last day will be March 28. Small towns cannot afford to
lose any business, especially one that feeds it's residents workforce.
=== The message read. ===
With much debate and a heavy heart we have made the decision to close
the Minto Cafe.
We appreciate all the support our customers have given us over the
years. Out last day open will be March 28th.
We ask that you please support all of the Minto area businesses. Once
again "Thank You" and God bless.
Sincerely, Sarah and Nancy <<<
I wish Sarah and Nancy the very best in their future endeavors, and, I
hope the Minto community will be able to find a new restauranteur very
soon.

This Sat. 29th from 7am to 2pm is the Annual French Toast &
Sausage Breakfast at the Federated Church. So besides helping out you
can get feed too. John says you don't even have to be a Frenchman to
enjoy French Toast.

Plan to attend the 2008 Men World Curling Championships at The Ralph
Engelstad Arena on Grand Forks April 5 thru 13th. Take advantage
of this once in a lifetime opportunity to watch a World Championship
Curling Event at the Ralph.
Also, Bob LaBonte will be a sweeper of the first rock thrown at the
opening ceremony on Friday the 4th. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing
Bob won't be doing much jumping at this event. And of course we can't
forget the opening event will be MC'd by Grafton's own John Aasand.
