December 4, 2007 - Tuesday

------------------------
Todays Gazette is being brought to you, in part, by Ed Claussen and
Duane (Grut) Anderson. Aren't memories wonderful?
------------------------
The current temperature is 14 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 15/-13
Normal H/L temp for this date is 24/8
It's snowing now and "they" say we can expect an additional 4 to 6
inches of snowcat dust before it's over.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
------------------------
I noticed a couple BSNF railroad engines pulling cars from the north on
the new "shortline" railroad tracks. Although that may have happened
before, this is the first time I have actually seen it since early last
spring.
Anyway, then I wondered if "maybe" the BSNF outfit was just helping out
the "shortline" folks while their new shed and offices are being built
on the north end of town. NOPE, that couldn't be, because there doesn't
appear to be any sign of activity on that building project site since
the site was levelled and a gravel bed laid down. Maybe they have
decided to postpone construction of the building that will protect their
equipment from the "weather",... til the weather gets better.

===== SWEET -- FACTS =====
American Crystal processes sugarbeets grown by its members in five
factories. The growing area is divided into five factory districts, each
containing one sugarbeet processing plant. The period during which the
Company's plants are in operation to process sugarbeets into sugar and
agri-products is referred to as the "campaign." During the campaign,
each of the Company's factories is operated twenty-four hours per day,
seven days per week. The campaign typically begins in September and
continues until the available supply of sugarbeets has been depleted,
which generally occurs in May of the following year. An average campaign
lasts approximately 250 days, assuming normal crop yields.

Susie Anderson wondered, in yesterdays Gazette, "if" we could find
someone from Northeastern North Dakota that used to build large
Christmas lawn ornaments. Just for the heck of it, I will share the
notes I received on that issue.
The first response was >>> Hi Gary,
Paul's uncle, Kenny Tetrault, makes beautiful yard ornaments. I believe
he made some of them that are on display in our park. Kenny lives in
Walhalla. His phone number is 701-549-3728. It's a good a place as any
to start.
Happy Holidays!

Within a few minutes of receiving the note from Bev. This one came in.
>>>
I know that years ago Kenneth Tetrault from Walhalla, ND made large
medal outdoor figures. His phone number is 701-549-3728.
Hope this is the person. Good Luck- Celeste

This one wasn't far behind. Gary, you were asking about the family
who made those angel ornaments. This might be who you are looking for,
his name is Kenneth Tetrault. I don't know if he still does this type of
work or not, but it might be worth a phone
call. His number is, 701-549-3728. At Walhalla, N. Dak.

This one added even more information. Hi Gary,
In response to Susie regarding the outdoor lighted lawn ornaments I
can tell you that Kenny Tetreault of Walhalla is the gentleman who did
alot of the Chamber displays in Leistikow Park. They were ordered while
I was working at the chamber and he was great to work with. If I
remember correctly he also has a website www.creaturemankt.com. Hope
this helps. Vonda

This one gives insight on some of the material used. Hello Gary,
A fellow by the name of Kenny Tetrault from Walhalla used to make
large lawn ornaments, deer and elk as well as Christmas characters from
1/4" iron rod his # is 701-549-3728. Maybe He could help Suzie out. Bill

As for me. I can only add that Kenny calls his enterprise Kenny's
Custom Sculptures and he has been building and bending iron since 1987.
I encourage anyone interested in such items to check out Kenny's web
site as provided above, I did and it proved very interesting.

Now then, that certainly gives credence to the old adage. "Ask and you
shall receive",..... sometimes anyway. Thanks to everyone that cared to
share.
