Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
-----------------------
The current temperature is 44 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 59/36
Normal H/L temp for this date is 56/33
Normally it isn't this warm, this long. I guess maybe there is
something to that global warming stuff.

Wally wanted to share the following thoughts. >>>>
Dear Friends
Today we say goodbye to one of our true friends. A teacher of
our class of 1947, Mary Beth (Lewis) Gorder. She was our home ec teacher
at Grafton High School.
My brother Ken was the only boy in her class. She told me many
times what a good student he was and the fun she had helping him bake
and sew.
Mary beth was a very special person in my life. She was
always pleasant always with a smile. One of her greatest assets was to
always find time to stop and visit with you.
Those students blessed enough to have associated with her,
became better people because of it. Mary Beth was a special person, from
a special time, a passing era.
Please pass this message on to any members of our class you
may have addresses to.
Keep in touch, I am always interested in how you
are. Wally <<<<
Thanks for caring and sharing Wally. If the world were full of flowers
and each bud could have a name. Just as sure as God loves everyone, the
loveliest blossom would have Mary Beth's name.

Scott Hove sent additional clarification to yesterdays "blog" note.
>>>>
Gary,
Thank you for your kind comments in the Gazette ... if I may I'll chime
in a bit about what a "blog" is, etc. as to the question(s) from Gail:
The best definition I've come across for a blog is a 'frequently updated
website'. Technically, your e-mail to people each day is not a blog
but when that same e-mail information is "posted" to
www.NewsFromGrafton.com (a website) it becomes a blog. A blog can
have pictures (see the ones I reference below for examples of that).
The word itself comes from the word 'web log' or web diary. When
blogs first began they were basically diaries. Like many things the
technology has changed since then so that many people (myself included)
use the 'blog software and platforms' for other purposes too.
Anyone can go to: www.blogger.com (owned by Google) and set up a blog
and have a free instant website. Getting a name for it like
www.NewsFromGrafton.com gets a bit more complicated and is not
necessary.
As further proof that anyone can have a blog, my son Parker has one and
he's 17 weeks old. It's located at: parker.scotthove.com and my dog
has one located at: www.BlogByDog.com
Hope I haven't confused things!
Scott Hove <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Scott. It's
pretty hard for me to get confused, I don't know anything in the first
place.

Duane Kargel sent the following thoughts about the migration of Walmart
stores throughout the land. I'm sure some of you remember Duane. He was
in the furniture business in Drayton for a number of years and he also
operated a furniture business in Grafton. He has also been "dubbed" by
some, as having the longest going out of business sales in modern
business times. He wrote. >>> Am always pleased to get the Skeeterville
Gazette. Although I've been away from the area for years it helps me
keep up on the changes in Grafton and old acquaintances. I would like
to comment on Walmart. Crookston recently opened up a Walmart
Superstore; a beautiful retail site that no doubt serves a purpose
for the area. I often hear how they are going to decimate the retail
businesses wherever they move but this is what I have observed. When
I lived in Detroit Lakes Walmart came in and there was a downturn for a
short time but soon the local businesses regained their foothold with
old customers coming back and NEW customers stopping in. That city is
now growing fast with many new businesses coming to town. As to
Crookston--The owner of Hardware Hank told me that her business is
already improving (you can't beat parking at the front door, getting
your product from someone who knows all about it and getting on the
way.) Hugo's Grocery is busier than ever. In fact on most given
days they have more cars in their parking lot than the big box store
with multiple departments. Local businesses are our friends and I
like to shop with someone I know and trust. <<<< Thanks a million for
caring and sharing Duane. There is little doubt, some are not looking
forward to the day the WalMart folks walk into town.

Gosh Kermit, I sure hope I got your address write. And, I'd like to
welcome Wendy to the Gazette family.
As for when the Skeeterville Gazette becomes Shivercity. That will
happen on the first day our "normal" low temperature hits the freezing
point (32 degrees).

Today only four Gazettes were returned labelled "mailbox full".

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they are,
before it's too late.
