Todays Gazette is brought to you, in part, by R. W. (Bob) Levos
----------------------
The current temperature is 44 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 65/26
Normal H/L temp for this date is 54/31
Normally the high temperature this time of year is warmer than normal.
On this date in 2002 the high was 87 degrees. I'm not sure who can
explain that one.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
------------------------
Monday morning there was every indication something was going to happen
at the former Johnson Used Cars Sales facility. Rock DeSautel, from GMU
was sweeping the parking lot. He did such a good job about the only
thing left on the lot when he finished was the anticipation that
"something" was about to happen.
-------------------------
I am pleased Keith decided to share the following. He wrote. >>> Gary
-
I got a bang out of your opener on Thursday 4/12, on the
Outback Septic Co. "If you can poop it we can scoop it". It reminded me
of one I read the other day that said "We're No. 1 in the No. 2
business".
Keep up the good work
- Keith Mohagen <<< Thanks a million Keith, I really questioned if I
should put that in. Now I'm glad I did.

Rocks Electric has re-installed the giant Family Dollar sign in front
of the Family Dollar store on Hiway 17.
--------------------------
I still haven't heard valid confirmation on what appears to be a
second "loan until you get paid" store in town. If I had my way, I'd
have more pay days,... than pay-day loan stores.
---------------------------
This is the day R. W. (Bob) Levos celebrates the anniversary of his
birth. It could,.. and should, be a day that Red River Valley Sugarbeet
Growers celebrate as well. Along with Joe Kilichowski, Bob helped
pioneer the art of splitting beet storage piles allowing beets to store
longer and in better condition.
Bob was instrumental in the implementation of a satisfactory forced air
sugarbeet storage deepfreeze program and he fostered the very first
deepfreeze Sheds in the industry. He was at the helm when the process of
covering storage piles with plastic tarps which also enhanced long term
storage of the sugarbeet.
Even though Bob will always be directly associated with all of the
above mentioned "improvements", and the sugar industry in general will
appreciate untold value from them. In my opinion, Bob must not be
forgotten for two additional contributions to American Crystal Sugar
Company and ultimately the entire industry.
Bob should be given credit for conjuring up and nurturing the concept
of a sugar beet piler that could "walk like a duck". A piler that could
continuously pile sugarbeets, and, build a level pile at the same time.
Even tho Bob's "walking piler" idea has benefited and saved beet growers
literally millions of dollars over the years. Bob Levos' greatest
contribution to the sugarbeet industry is the work he did to formulate
and orchestrate The Sugar Quality Payment System. (including the
construction of a first in the industry quality control lab) In my
opinion, the Quality Payment System has done more to bring about the
possibility of growing high quality, high sugar content, low impurity
sugarbeets than anything since the Mormons moved west to Utah.
I am very proud to have had the opportunity to work alongside a man
that has done so much, for so many.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY --- BOB LEVOS
Pat and I, and, our entire family, thank you Bob, For everything you
have done and we wish you the very best on your special day.

I am pleased to welcome Judy and Keith Sevigny to the Gazette family.
