L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
--------------------------
Tuesday our community said goodbye to one of it's very best. Beginning
with a large contingent of students and friends. With eyes closed and
heads bowed praying and saying farewell in front of the high school
Sunday afternoon.
To the hundreds of people attending his prayer service Monday evening
all hoping and praying they might say the right thing.
How does one fully extend or express ones sympathies and compassion for
the great loss our entire town was feeling? Somehow mere words put
together in a sentence leaves so many important things left unsaid.
So how, I wondered, could we tell the parents of our 17 year old
friend how important young Ronnie had become. Then, on the day of young
Ronnie's funeral, in Grafton's High School gymnasium. The right words
started becoming evident. Though many of those words couldn't be heard.
The message was becoming more meaningful, tho somehow hard to explain.
Hundreds of friends surrounded the place where Ronnie was lain. Peggy
Dahl-Bartunek's High School choir singing special selections, spoke
volumes of how folks felt about Ronnie. Justin Fremont traveling all the
way from Missouri to play "Freebird," one of Ronnie's favorites, added
even more significance to his tribute.
As Ronnie J. Fellman was laid to his rest on the day we all will
remember. Everyones eyes were filled with tears and left with one simple
question. Why?
Then,.... Wednesday, the Walsh County Record came out and the front
page answered my question. On the top half of the front page of the
Record is a picture with inserts of Ronnie's last day with us.
The script on the top of the picture read: "Ronnie. You'll be
remembered" then across the bottom of the picture in bold, appropriate
print. It said:
Ronnie J. Fellman 2/3/91 --- 12/4/08
I think you'll agree, that it's easy to see how important young Ronnie
had grown to be. How in 17 years he accomplished so much. Leaving his
loving family and friends with so many nice words, and a truly fantastic
picture to see.
God speed little buddy. You have left this world and me, a much better
place to be.

It's always from hearing from folks around the country. And believe it
or not. Once in awhile someone even agrees with me. The following note
comes from Rick at his Lakeside Resort near Branson Missouri. He wrote:
>>>>
Hi from the Ozarks.
Hi Gary,
We paid $1.42 a gallon for gas yesterday. It's about time someone called
a spade a spade. Your thoughts on the Green issue and the Illinois
Governor are right on track. I think we should ask for about 2.3 billion
to help support our resort here in the Ozarks. [Or so it appears to me]
Stay Warm,
Rick <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing. I was hoping we
could get a billion or so to add some new equipment to the Gazette.

Here is another note that seems to agree with me. >>>> global warming
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on Al Gore. What a
hypocritical bunghole. Same old same old, somebody comes up with a great
idea for someone else to do, but they don't want to do it themselves. As
far as the global warming goes there is strong scientific evidence the
earth is warming up and has accelerated that warming trend since humans
started burning fossil fuels. Other warming and cooling events through
history can be traced to significant CO2 releases from volcanoes and
other minor events such as the meteor that struck the earth with enough
force to kill the dinosaurs. So it's hard to argue the earth isn't in a
warming trend, but what really causes it is still being debated by
smarter people than I. But for some rich, arrogant, has been politician
to live the lifestyle Gore lives, them use his name to make a bunch of
money telling everyone else they should reduce carbon emissions when
he's flying a private jet and living in multiple, extravagant, high
energy using mansions is really disturbing. What's probably more
disturbing is the fact there are so many who have bought into his line
of B.S. and pay to listen to him preach his "do as I say, not as I do"
speech. <<<<<
I can't even imagine what I could add to that. Except to say,.... I
agree.
