February 28, 2008 - Thursday

Todays Gazette is bought to you, wishing YVETTE MOE a very HAPPY
BIRTHDAY
She's the wife of our eldest son Jeff so she's already earned her way
to heaven. She mothered three of our grandchildren, for that too, we are
very pleased. From the first day Yvette joined our family, she improved
our family tree.
I would have mentioned how many candles it takes to light your cake.
But the billboard on the corner of 81 and 17 has already done all that.
Happy Birthday Yvette we love you,
from Mother Patti and from me.

The current temperature is 25
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 24/2
Normal H/L temp for this date is 27/10
It looks like we are going to receive another shipment of snowman parts
tonight. O well, next week will be next month. Or so it seems to me
===========================
L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-------------------------
A cross section of my recent emails looks more like a serious planning
session for the third world war, than sharing the joys and happiness of
winning a state championship.
Sharing them all would be right next to impossible. Trying to decide
which ones to use, at what level of frustration, and and probably the
most important factor. Was trying to decide how long one should allow
the events of last week to fester.
To that end I have decided to use only those comments leaning toward
positive rather than negative. I would like to thank all those that took
the opportunity to share their views and opinions. I sincerely hope the
ability to "vent" your feelings without creating serious detrimental
ramifications will help put the past exactly where it belongs,... in the
past.

Dr. Gaustad sent the following comments to Mayor Burianeks message in
yesterdays Gazette. Jim wrote. >>>
Subject: A Class Act
Dear Gary:
The community of Grafton is so fortunate to have Todd Burianek as
our Mayor. The comments he made in his e-mail message to you is
totally a class act. He brings to focus the really important aspects
of life that leads our young people into having a successful
future.
Congratulations to all our Grafton Spoiler athletes.
Winning two state championship trophies this year is an awesome
achievement and a real challenge to the Spoiler athletes of the
future.
Jim G <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Jim.

Tami shared the following comments, and I believe a lesson for us all.
>>>
Gary:
Kudos to your Grafton Spoilers. Although I live in Grand Forks (formerly
from Grafton!) and my son plays hockey, I am appalled at the comments I
have heard and read regarding the championship game. (mostly 2nd hand
information, but it's out there) Some of the comments are simply kids
being kids....but...I think as a parent we must monitor the harshness of
the comments and what they represent. Bad sportsmanship.
The referees obvious mistake of not blowing the whistle for too many men
on the ice when the tying goal was made should be more than clear to
anyone who either attended the game, watched it on tv or watched it on
"you tube". When someone makes a mistake, it is simply that. A mistake.
Mistakes happen in life and life goes on. As a parent I will continue to
diffuse any talk of "cheating" "not fair" "shoulda" "coulda" or "blame"
when talking with my kids about a game situation. I suggest all parents
do the same when talking sports with their kids. Teach them that
mistakes happen and will continue to happen, it's how you handle them
that count.
Tami Swiers <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Tami. In life,
everything is a lessen. How well we learn to apply them dictates our
values in life.

Grafton offers several excellent foreign food eateries. From Chinese to
Mexican and Italian. From a super delicious deli presentation to Subways
scrumptious subs packed to tickle your taste buds. From Granny's early
morning breakfast to the mouth watering ribeye's and Buffalo Sirloin
steaks at Marketplace. Whether your coming and going, or going and
coming. You will almost certainly find the eatery in Grafton to satisfy
your desires.

Gary -
Just wanted to share my experience at Aida's Mexican Restaurant. What a
wonderful little place to enjoy some authentic and tasty food! The
establishment is squeaky clean and the service is quick and courteous! I
would recommend anyone that has not tried this place, to make a point to
soon! Well worth it!
Nanci Wilson <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Nanci. AND, to
think we have two (2) fine Mexican restaurants in Grafton.

Yesterday was Sue's first Gazette. Today she shared the following
note.
>>>> Hi, Gary
Thanks for adding me to your emailing list. Enjoyed my
first "issue", and whole-heartedly agree with you on the 2 major topics.
G-PR WON IT! and Ann Egeland was one of the great ladies of our
community.
Thanks, again!
Sue Votava <<< Thanks a million for caring and
sharing Sue.

It really didn't surprise me that I would get several comments about
Ann Egeland. Ann's smile could melt the ice caps, Her kindness was a
glow. She spent her whole life sharing and caring for those in need. Ann
is up in heaven now, taking care of the angels needs.

Ralph sent the following thoughts about Ann. He wrote: >>> As a little
kid whenever I went to the doctor and heard Ann Egeland call my name
that fear left me. She was the kindest most caring nurse. She always
made everything right no matter who you were.
Ralph Kingsbury <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Ralph.
