L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
------------------------
Workman completed the roof portion of the "longhouse" late Thursday.
------------------------
Tuesday afternoon the open basement on the property east of Ole Aasands
home was empty, partially full of snow and there was no sign of a house
to be found anywhere.
All that changed Wednesday when a house Moving Crew from South Dakota
came to town and started building a road from hiway 81 across what used
to be railroad tracks, to the new site. By Wednesday night, the house
that was built in Watertown, South Dakota was moved to town and almost
on it's new foundation.
The house moving crew pulled up to Granny's at 6:00 Thursday morning
and patiently waited for the restaurant to open for breakfast. (It seems
Granny's clock is set somewhere between Mountain and Central standard
time.) The movers said, they would have the house up and on the
foundation within a couple hours after they had breakfast.
And, I might add,.... they did. The new home will make a super addition
to that end of town.

Dorothy's note about Sonny and the Teapot Dome, gave Tom reason to
share the following memory. >>>>
Subject: GREETINGS, GARY!
Speaking of Sonny Wentz reminded me of his '38 Olds I bought from him
in 1951, complete with bullet hole in the hood. Drove it almost to
Camp Rucker, it broke down in Holly Springs, Miss. What an
adventure! Also, one of my first jobs was washing car windows with
Bill DePuy around the two Grafton hotels, Merchant and Basell, for the
Teapot Dome, leaving a note under the windshield wiper as advertising
for the business. Capitalism working at its best. Tom LaBerge <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Tom. Some folks seem to
remember that old olds as the "Green Monster". Or, "The Mean Green
Machine."
Aren't memories wonderful?

No word, yet, on the status of the "undocumented borrowers" that payed
a visit (pardon the pun) to a Park River Financial institution last
summer. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they're not on the way to New
York City to get a drivers license so they can drive legally.

"Arguments are little more than the heated exchange of ignorance."
Or so it seems to me.

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they
are,..... before it's too late.
