L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-----------------------
The rumor of the building once occupied by Denny's Food Pride in
Grafton's Western Plaza getting a new tenant, has turned to fact. Home
of Economy WILL be moving there Grafton store into that facility in the
near future.
The move to Grafton's Western Plaza will be a significant improvement
in location for Home of Economy. The new building will also lend itself
to a much more user friendly atmosphere with a significant increase in
parking area as well.
------------------------
With Subway's proposed new home on Main Street. The possibility of a
brand new car wash, a new plumber moving to town and Home of Economy
moving their operation into the Western Plaza. And,.. we haven't even
heard, yet, where the BP coffee crowd will end up solving the problems
of the world.
Grafton truly is going and growing.
Or so it seems to me.

Have you ever wished you could be on one of those big Hollywood Game
Shows. The Sieben girls did. >>>>
Hi Gary,
The Sieben girls were all together for the past few days in California.
Helen, Janelle, Beth & I were enjoying some R&R in weather that was
about 30-40 degrees warmer than Grafton. Janelle & Beth decided to
try get on the Price Is Right and were successful!! Beth (Smith) got
on stage and ended up winning over $18,000 worth of merchandise
including one of the showcases. She greeted her 3 daughters in Valley
City on the show. It will be aired on March 14. It has been lots of
excitement for all of us. We talked a lot about Grafton and still
agree it was a great place to grow up!! Thanks for your news - I
really enjoy it and it brings me "home" when I read it. I agree that
the girls' basketball team should be mentioned more -- my sister-in-law,
Laurie, is the coach. Good luck to them!!
Thanks again,
Debbie (Sieben) Robinson
Charlotte, NC <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Debbie. We
will all be watching the Price is Right on March 14, for "one of our
own".

George shared the following comments about the World Curling Tournament
coming soon to the Ralph in Grand Forks.
George wrote; >>>
Gary, thank you for including the information on the World Curling
event in the SHIVERCITY GAZETTE. I have had several volunteers call
because of your newsletter!!! Tickets for the full event run from $149
to $500. The volunteer gets into all the draws and can meet players,
sponsors' and rub shoulders during some of the draws, and, get a jacket
all only $50. Seriously though, I think having the World Curling
Championship is a great event for the area and hope that many of
Grafton's and the region's former state/national champions show up with
their jacket/sweaters to display their patches. Grafton and the area
have a lot to be proud of. Still could use a couple of volunteers if
anyone is interested / although we could cover with volunteers we
already have -
George & Diane Cox <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing George.
It sure is wonderful knowing that my little compendium of babble can
serve some small purpose.

Although we are little more than half way through celebrating "Raumin
Gone" here at home. According to the 50 years ago column in the Record.
Pvt. Gerald C. Raumin became the 15th recruit for the Grafton's Army
National Guard Unit. The recruit was sent to the six month active duty
training program at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. The article didn't mention if
Gerald returned a pvt. or, a General. However, it doesn't take more than
one cup of coffee at Granny's to find out Gerry learned how to take
charge,.. somewhere.
Or so it seems to me.
