Murphy's back in town. The one that says, "if anything can go wrong, it
will" not the one married to Harriet Callahan.
Anyway, about the time us "regular" folks were going to sit down and
eat. The fire whistle blew and the volunteer group I'm selling tickets
for had to haul all their equipment over to a garage fire behind the
Grafton Square.
Some might remember awhile back, the Grafton Square Convenience store
had a fire making it really inconvenient for their regular customers.
Then, a few months later, not more than a block down the road, a large
"once around the kitchen Pizza" started on fire in the Pizza Hut and
pufff, the fire went thru the roof.
Wednesday, it seems, Murphy stopped by a garage between the Square and
the Pizza Hut and started a fire, I guess, to warm up the neighborhood.
Anyway, I sure hope the owners of that garage remembered to get their
Grafton Area Volunteer Firefighters Calendar draw Tickets. Lord knows
the Volunteer Firefighters were working their behinds off so the house
and gas station didn't burn up too. Or so it seems to me.

Subject: Grafton is everywhere
Hello Gary:
Just a note to let you know Grafton's name is all over. We
got down to Fl on the 29th and had to go out and get our groceries. So
we stopped in at the big Wall Mart Store in Ft. Myers. We always look
over the potatoes very closely and try to find some red river valley
potatoes. Sure enough there they were Tri-Campbell potatoes from
Grafton at Wall Mart. We got our good Red River Valley potatoes which we
furnish at some of the dinners for the people and they say they have
never tasted such good potatoes.
Thank You for keeping us updated on what is going on in the
Grafton area.
Keith Saville <<< Thanks for caring and sharing Keith. Our
little community provides much to satisfy "our" country's needs. Often I
get notes from across the country from folks who have seen stands and
products from Sweet Delights.

Today will be the Fox Hunters last day to hunt, our area, for another
year. Last night, "our" six Fox Hunters, Keith Bjorneby and myself, met
at MarketPlace for what has become something of an annual event. As
usual, It was wonderful to be able to introduce them to several more
folks from our area. Several of them said they had heard alot about
"our" Ohio Fox Hunters and were pleased they were finally able to meet
them. Aunt Leona stopped and visited for awhile. She suggested Lankin,
(her old stomping grounds) might be a good place for them to hunt. My
son Jeff stopped by to meet and visit with, (in his words) the Fox
Hunters he's heard so much about.
Again this year, as in the past, the food at MarketPlace was fantastic
and the fellowship was superb. Keith, unbeknown to me til later, not
only "sponsored" the nourishment portion of the evening. He provided
everyone with "a level of intelligence and local information" that truly
helped mold the evening into another marvelous memory of "our" Ohio Fox
Hunting Friends. I will always cherish the memories of my friends from
the Buckeye State.

Wally sent the following response to earlier comments in the Gazette
about the "Spirit of the Season" Leistikow Park holiday decorating
project. He wrote. >>>
Ya, it is time for old grocers to be in bed, but first I must comment
on Rev. Lees note. Rev. Lee don't give up on the nativity set figure
being taken, or better yet stolen. I know your feeling, as nine of mine
were taken over the week of New Years -- yes nine. I was mad as can be
and felt the same way as you must feel. Lets not give in to one person
when the community is filled with great people.
On Saturday morning I got a call from a complete stranger from
Thief River Falls by the name of Alissa Bjerklie. She told me they too
had been burned out of their farm stead home. No one was home at the
time and they lost everything they owned. Both the wife and husband
worked at jobs in Thief River. They had nothing left after the fire. The
community was so good to them during their time of need, that they
wanted to share with the Joe Savoi family east of Grafton, who lost
everything thy owned in a fire out east of Grafton. She drove all the
way to Grafton, from Thief River, to share and help a family in need.
The Savoi family was not at home so my son Kent helped her
unload at the store. I went down and met her. "What a wonderful loving
and giving person she is." I'm so glad I got to visit with her. Here is
a person who lost everything they had and still wanted to help and share
bedding and clothing (not rummage but clean pressed items ). Almost a
suburban full.
So you see, we can't spend our time dwelling on the small things
when there are so many good things going on around that no one ever
talks about. BLESS THOSE like ALISSA for all they do for so many.
Please excuse my typing Gary as I type with only finger, just as
RILIE MORGAN did at the record Wally <<< Thanks a million for
caring and sharing Wally. The world is full of wonderful people doing
wonderful things for wonderful reasons.
------------------------
Speaking of wonderful people. My sincere Thanks goes out to Gary & Judy
Smith and Eileen Bolek for joining the Firefighters Calendar Drawing,
and, for helping "our" area Firefighters be as good as they can be.

The subscription department will be adding Mickey, Gary, David, and
Joanie to the list of Gazette family members.
