October 10, 2006 - Tuesday

----------------------
Todays Gazette is being brought to you by Rinde Motor Co. and Rinde's
Safety Tested Used Cars.
-----------------------
The current temperature is 56 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 58/27
Normal H/L temp for this date is 60/36
We can expect just enough snow this week to remind "our" snowbirds it's
time to pack up and head south.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-----------------------
We would like to thank all those that sent cards, letters and
congratulatory e-mails on our 46 wedding anniversary.
We spent a reasonably quiet weekend in the motorhome. We even spent a
short time in the Early American Monetary Distribution Center on the
shores of Devils Lake. I was fortunate to get out of there with my
shirt. Pat on the other hand, carried out enough to build a small canoe.
It's no secret that I've learned much the past few years about
appreciating our world and the folks that inhabit it. There are numerous
reasons I end each and every Gazette with "Write if you can, call if you
can't, and, tell your loved ones they are, before it's too late".
Over the years, several events in our family have given rise to the
importance of that quote. This weekend, once again brings home, to me at
least, the value of "caring and sharing" with those we love and
appreciate in our lives.
Sadly, we mourn the passing of Mildred (Mrs. Bennie) Molde. Former
Grafton High School Superintendent Julian Bjornson and Agnes (Aggie)
Scharwark.
"Tell your loved ones they are, before it's too late." The following
note gives credence to that quote. >>> Happy Anniversary to you and Pat.
What a wonderful testimonial you gave to her in the Gazette. Thank you
for putting your feelings into words for us all to appreciate. Kathee
<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Kathee.
"Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they
are, before it's too late."

This weekend I also learned of a "BENEFIT" to be held for Jillian
Demester. Jill is a magically beautiful young girl who is presently
suffering from the trauma and effects of a very serious automobile
accident this past June 28. Jill and our grand daughter Krystal were
passengers in a vehicle that went out of control rolling over several
times and Jullian was thrown out of the car. Fortunately, the driver
sustained relatively minor injuries, and, fortunately too, Krystal, who
was wearing a seat belt, received only minor injuries as well.
Jillian on the other hand, received significant serious injuries and
needed to be flown to a special trauma center in Minneapolis. After 9
weeks and several surgeries Jillian was allowed to return home for
awhile and has started attending some classes for her junior year of
high school. It is apparent that several additional surgeries and an
extended period of convalescent time will be required before Jill can
expect a reasonable resemblance of normality once again.
"Tell your loved ones they are."
Jillian is the daughter of our nephew David and Val Demester and she
is also a niece of my brother Andrew (A.K.) and Jacqui. I should add
that A.K. & Jacqui are also spearheading the benefit plans for Jillian.
Already some extremely wonderful things have started taking shape in
Jills behalf. For instance, several local businesses have already
offered their help and support. Joey Watkins (Goober) has volunteered to
provide his Special Turkey dinner with all the trimmings, and, as so
many times in the past, Susie, from MarketPlace on 8, has offered her
wonderful facilities for the event. The benefit for Jillian Demester
will be held on Sunday - October 29th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
I must also mention that the Grafton Lutheran Church had originally
planned on having their annual fall (Harvest) dinner on that same day.
They have, most graciously, agreed to forego their festivities on that
day and will encourage everyone to attend Jill's benefit instead. Is
that fantastic, or what? Great things do happen in little towns.
The need is great, and the time is short. Rest assured you will hear
more on this very important event as time goes by.
--------------------
I also include the "Gotta go work on my Dash" quote at the bottom of
every Gazette. By now, I expect, everyone knows it's inference.
Tomorrow will be the second anniversary of Leslie (Bob) Harts passing.
Although it's true I didn't know Bob as well as some. I did know him
well enough to know his dash was as long as any. Tomorrows Gazette will
include a "tribute" to Bob.

GOTTA GO WORK ON MY DASH

The Gazette works best, when the folks that read it, write it. Or so
it seems to me.

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they are,
before it's too late.
