Subject: SHIVERCITY GAZETTE

04/05/06 WEDNESDAY
---------------------
Todays Gazette is being brought to you, in part, by Goodman's, formerly
Melvins, and presently Landowski's furniture store.
Located next to Grafton appliance on Hiway 17 west. They are worth the
trip.
----------------------
The current temperature is 57 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 50/23
Normal H/L temp for this date is 47/26
We can expect near normal temperatures for the rest of the week.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-----------------------
The Park River water level is just a bit over 11.25 feet. So far, water
hasn't flooded into Leistikow Park, as a matter of fact, it may never do
so,.....this spring.
------------------------
I'm not sure what happened in the land of electronic letter peddling
yesterday. I understand several around the area, and, probably the whole
country experienced computer problems.
I don't know the total extent of the problem. It would be wonderful to
hear from folks that did, or didn't receive the Tuesday Gazette.
------------------------
Yesterday, (Tuesday) I attended the Anne Murray Concert with Pat and
Kelly at the Chester Fritz in Grand Forks. The "Fritz", in my opinion,
is without question one of the finest facilities in the country, for
such events
My guess is the average age of those attending the concert would be
something just north of retirement age Plus 1. Anyway, the music was
easy listening and enjoyable.
Before going to the concert, we stopped to eat at the Regal Prong
Buffet. While there we got to visit with our Grand Nephew Jarred
Pederson. Jarred is most certainly deserving of the title "Grand" I
might add.
Anyway, As I was eating Jarred and his Grandmother, Audrey (Eng)
Pederson, stopped by our table to say hello. Gosh Jarred is a terrific
young man. Well groomed, lean and good looking all in one package. It's
hard to believe he will graduate from high school this spring. He
invited us to his graduation, and, I invited him to come out to Rocky
Point fishing this summer. I'm confidant we will both honor our
invitations.
Gramma Audrey mentioned their winter went well, except that she and
Jarl went south for the warmest part of our winter and returned home
about the same time it started to get cold. (Murphy's Law you know) One
things for certain though. Where ever Audrey has been spending her time,
it's been doing a fantastic job of keeping her looking young.
----------------------
The giant dumpster that has spent most of the winter behind the Extra
End has been removed. A super improvement.

It looks like Ekatta's plans on energizing and re-using the fluorescent
lights outside and above the front windows.

Please remember Tomorrow, Thursday, April 6th is the benefit Dinner
for the Wharam family. If you can attend, please do so. Grafton's
Marketplace on 8th. 4:00 - 8:30pm. Goobers "Turkey with all the
trimmings & Olson's Buffalo Meatball" dinner.
Little Ben and Maria can use all the prayers we can give, and, a
monetary contribution would certainly help them through these most
difficult times.
Please make checks payable to Thrivent Financial as that organization
will also be contributing accordingly. Tickets are $10 per person and
will also be available at the door of Marketplace on 8th.
Throughout life, many are "tested" for strength and devotion. The
Wharam family challenge seems "almost" beyond belief. Little Ben and
Maria have given members of the Grafton, Park River and Grand Forks
communities, among many others, reason to pray together and help in the
hope that this wonderful family can enjoy life to it's fullest extent.

Earl Hegstad of Valley City took over management of the Grafton Gamble
Store February 1, 1945. He succeeded Earl Wallet as Mr. Wallet left to
take over another store in Walla Walla, Wash. (According
to a 1945 WCR)

GOTTA GO WORK ON MY DASH
==================================
The Gazette works best, when the folks that read it, write it. Or so it
seems to me.

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they are,
before it's too late.
