I received an interesting note about hyperactivity. Of course I will
honor the "do not use my name" in the Gazette request. However the gist
of the note was that my comments "simply must be wrong", because, the
note suggests. That every time that individuals children were given
candy they would "run around the house yelling a screaming like wild
early Americans." (I'll admit I did change that part a bit.) So,... in
this persons analogy anyway, the sugar "must" be the cause.
To that I might suggest. Try giving a kid a pony and you'll see that
exact same hyperactivity. Try giving your child a new bike and again you
will see the same "hyperactivity" reaction.
Of course kids will display a heightened level of jubilation when given
candy sweetened with sugar. Candy tastes fantastic with sugar, eating
anything sweetened with good old fashioned American Crystal Sugar is a
pleasant experience. Why shouldn't they be happy. That doesn't mean kids
are "hyperactive". That means kids are active and happy.
Or so it seems to me.

Good morning Gary.
As the holidays are amongus, again, it'stime to reflect on
things we have to be grateful an thankful for. I would like to take
this opportunity to thank everyone in the Grafton an surroundingareas
for the many cards,gifts,well wishes an prayers we received during
my daughters surgery in Rochester Minn. A special thank you to
Mike & Tim DeSautel, Frances, Mitch and all of the employees at Wally's.
Thanks for working with meand for allowing the timeoff I needed to
make this happen.Their expressions of thoughtfulness and concern was
overwhelming and very VERY much appreciated. Ashley is on the road to
recoveryand things are looking good. Thanks again, so much, to
each and everyone.

Speaking of wonderful people. Mary Arnesen (Arnesen's Rocky Point
Resort) stopped by the Country Smokehouse the other day. As most of you
are aware. I have often said, "if your hungry, and you are anywhere in
the northern Minnesota area, stop in at Arnesen's Rock Harbor Lodge for
some of the country's absolute best cuisine. It is really wonderful to
have folks like Mary and her culinary expertise stop in the Country
Smokehouse.

I hope ALL of our potential future politicians are paying close
attention to the ramifications involved with the teacher possible
facing, 40 lashes, (that's torture in my book folks) a prison sentence,
possible gang rape, AND, she could even be put to DEATH. WHY,..... for
giving her students a TEDDY BEAR.
It's impossible to "negotiate" with folks that live and believe in that
kind of logic. Unless I am totally misinformed. I believe it was
somewhere over their that the old adage "a eye for a eye" originated.
So,... if that be true, the teacher should get a giant teddy bear.
Or so it seems to me.
