L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-------------------------
Activity can be seen around the former Trax on 5th building. I can't be
certain what's going on inside, although someone has shovelled the snow
away from the entrances. The large for sale sign is gone and the foul
language has been removed from the front facade as well.
Rumor has it, folks there, could be partaking of distilled spirits
before this years 125 celebration. I haven't heard mention whether the
name will remain the same, or, if the former Berts Lounge will acquire
yet another new name.
--------------------------
The former Mid-Town Motel complex, Walsh County Bank Building, Hvidsten
Implement building, Twetes Dry Cleaners, Johnson Used Car Sales, Harts
Machine & Manufacturing facilities, the VFW Clubrooms and the former
Gillespie Meat Market building all continue to be used as sailboat fuel
storage. Although the Hvidsten, Johnson and Gillespie buildings are
scheduled to be occupied within the next month or so.

Within minutes after sending out yesterdays Gazette. Ralph Kingsbury
returned this note. >>> So, where can we send a check for the Mattson
fund?
I responded to Ralph's note with the following.
Thanks a million Ralph. If you want you can make a check out to the
Becca Mattson Fund, and send it to me at 764 Birch Crt Grafton, ND
58237. Pat and I plan to attend Becca's benefit on the 23rd and will
deliver any donations we receive at that time.
Of course, I'm guessing any member of the Mattson family would be more
than happy to take and deliver anyones contribution to the proper place
for Becca's cause.
Please don't let 'not knowing what to do', stop you from doing
something.

I was also please to receive the following note from Matt. He wrote:
>>> Thanks for the super column Gary, as well as all of the other nice
things you say about my Mattson family. I usually get your column from
my dad, but would you please add me formally to your mailing list?
Thank you, and, we do in fact have some official Dale Earnhardt Inc.
merchandise headed up north your way for Becca's fundraiser - so get
your bid in! Thanks again for everything. Matt Mattson <<< Thank you
Matt, it would be great to have a list of auction items to better
"prepare" those attending the benefit. And, for those that can't, maybe
they could participate in the auction by phone.
