L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
---------------------------
Most of us have heard about the famous million dollar TV ads during the
Super Bowl. I must admit that some of them were pretty darn good, to say
the least.
However, those lucky enough to listen to the North Dakota Class A
Hockey Tournaments this year over Graftons KXPO Radio had the
opportunity to hear an advertisement that even the folks at Budweiser
couldn't afford. I can't remember the ad verbatim it will have to
suffice to say that a warm, somewhat seductive sounding, female voice
during the ad suggests that, If your looking to move the earth, from the
ground down,.... contact Kilmer's Excavating in Grafton. It is a
fantastic Radio Ad. I am amazed at the number of people I have heard
comment about it.
--------------------------------
Speaking of contractors, several members of a southern contractor have
been busy installing Awnings over the windows of Simonsons brand new
Subway Sandwich, Gas Station, Convenience Store on the corner of Hill
and Hiway 17. The opening of Simonsons beautiful new facility is still
scheduled for sometime this spring, I think.
----------------------------------
This Saturday PLEASE PLAN to participate in the Joanie Silewski Bone
Marrow Donor Drive at St. Johns Parish Center in Grafton. The drive will
be held between the hours of 10:00 and 5:00. The "test" on Saturday is
not only very quick and easy, it is also painless.
JOANIE SILEWSKI NEEDS YOUR HELP.
Load up your car with folks who are interested in saving a life and
head down to the St. Johns Catholic Church Parish Center. Joanie's
family will be eternally grateful and you will experience a satisfaction
beyond your wildest imagination.

You may well be feeling so great about the wonderful thing you've done,
you can head over to the brand spankin' new Minto Community Center and
participate in a benefit dance scheduled there.
The Minto Community Center is having a benefit dance coming up this
Saturday, March 7th, from 9:00 to 1:00. Dance to "Past Due", which is a
top-notch high-energy band that will have you on your feet and dancing
in no time. Must be 21 and over. Free will offering. All proceeds go to
the Community Center. --------------------------------
Speaking of the Minto Community Center, among other things. I received
the following message from Denise, owner of Grafton's Embroidery Plus.
She wrote: >>> Gary:
Have you been inside the Minto Community Center? It's awesome. My
husband and I were recently at a Sioux Club event held there and were
very impressed. It was also good to hear that our very own Marketplace
has catered events there. Susie and her crew are certainly good
ambassadors for Grafton. A woman from Minto very graciously gave me a
tour of the entire facility. The facility was designed with an overhead
door to accommodate equipment like cars (car shows, etc.) as well as the
usual types of events. It's also been impressive to see the citizens of
Minto work together to complete the fund drive. Also, I'd like to
publicly thank Choice Financial Group for the community room it makes
available to people in the area for events. We've been holding quilting
classes in the community room. The room size accommodates our classes
and there are lots of electrical outlets for sewing machines and irons.
One more thing -- I'm delighted to hear Roger Feltman has purchased the
building at the end of the block. His daughter, Kayla, works for me from
time to time and, if her work ethic is indicative of Roger's, we can
expect a nice addition to our community.
Have a great day.

Thanks a million for caring and sharing Denise. At the beginning of
this Gazette I mentioned how "Neat" I thought Kilmers Excavating
advertisement was. I would be remise if I didn't mention how wonderful
it is that your operation (Embroidery Plus) holds a commanding roll in
supporting the broadcasts of many, if not most, of the areas sports
activities.
Speaking of Minto, if your interested in purchasing some of the best
dad burn baking in the Red River Valley. Stop in at the corner grocery
store in Minto and pickup a armful of Kathy Gudajtes' fabulous baking.
Even the holes in her donuts taste great!!
