March 12, 2009 - Thursday

Todays Gazette is brought to you, in part, by the words common sense
and sanity.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

The following note from Tom Z. speaks to the current administrations
views of Life, Liberty and the Pursuet of Happiness in terms "almost"
everyone should be able to understand. >>>>
Gary, your Gazette today (Wednesday) brings to mind a quote from a
book I just finished. "Made for More" by Curtis Martin.
He says " I began life in one of the most dangerous places on earth in
the late twentieth century: a womb." <<<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Tom. "Man must protect the
sanctity of life, from the womb to the tomb. The Lord will,... there
after." Or so it seems to me.

A man named Madoff is a perfect example of why the man who invests all
your money with,.... is called a broker?

Sanity and Common Sense left the auditorium at just about exactly the
same time the million dollar athletes entered it.
~~~~~ Or so it seems to me ~~~~~
I read the following quote in the last edition of the Walsh County
Record.
"Yes, this WOULD probably bring water into Grafton quicker, (now get
this part) HOWEVER, you can't expect these landowners to face continual
and increased flooding to their homes and property year after year and
not try to alleviate some of these problems."
Can you believe it? Some supposedly intelligent, sane individals
are suggesting that a solution to a flood problem is to start cleaning a
river that floods them. FROM THE UPSTREAM END OF THE RIVER.....
FIRST???????
It sounds like Webster's going to have to redefine the term "silly" in
their next edition.
Now then,..... is it possible that a Walsh County entity actually could
get federal money that would in fact, INCREASE the flood potential for
the city of Grafton? Is it possible that the people of Grafton and the
communities civic leaders could actuall allow it to happen? It certainly
reads that way to me anyway.
According to Channel 8 news last night, Regarding issues of high water,
the City of Grand Forks has, or plans to declare a state of emergency.
That certainly does not mean they will have a serious flood. It simply
means they are going to do "everything" possible to prepare for one.
From the 25 years ago section of the latest Walsh County Record.
Keith A. Mohagen, formerly of Grafton was appointed United States
Marshall. Prior to being appointed he was a detective with the Los
Angeles Sheriff's department. ~~~ I must also add, that Keith is also a
member, in good standing, of the Shivercity Gazette family of fabulous
folks.
