L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
--------------------------
Monday was another absolutely beautiful day in the Northern Red River
Valley. There is hardly a snowman in town that doesn't look sad and
wearing a frown. As far as that goes, every Frosty in town has a really
runny nose.
Grafton's city maintenance crews have been working diligently the past
several days opening storm drains and preparing for any potential spring
water issues.
Mayor Burianek sent the following update regarding Grafton's position
going into the spring "flush" season. The Mayor wrote: >>> Hi Gary
At 5:00 today (Monday) the City Council will meet to ratify the
Declaration of Emergency that I signed yesterday. This will enable us to
be eligible for FEMA funds as we make our flood fight this year.
By now, you've no doubt noticed our Steamer Truck crews out and about.
They worked all weekend defrosting frozen storm drains as we try to keep
up with the melt from a very lovely weekend. Also, last fall all storm
sewers were cleared of debris in order to allow unclogged passage to the
river. Earlier today, the McLeod Drain was cleared as well as ice below
the bridge near South 81. We also began preparation to add to the levees
around the park and on 5th Street. We will keep 5th Street open for as
long as we can, but we will take all necessary steps to contain the
flood waters in the park.
The nice weather has the potential to give us a false sense of security
and while I'm very thankful for it, we are still weeks away from a
possible crest. In this effort we are following one of my life mottos:
Hope for the best; prepare for the worst.
I will keep you and your readers updated throughout this endeavor.
TB <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Todd. The citizens of
Grafton, as well as those in the surrounding area, will certainly
appreciate being kept informed of the areas status and progress during
the spring runoff season.

Just the other day Denise (Embroidery Plus) mentioned how wonderful and
beneficial, the Choice Financial meeting room facilities are. The
following note from Erick once again fortifies that belief.

Gary,
This is Erick from the Alltel Agent.
I just wanted to get the word out as soon as possible. Eric Burley and
myself will be doing a "Tech Forum" Question and answer session next
Friday the 20th of March at the Choice Financial Community Building here
in Grafton on 6th St at 6:30 pm.
Generally it will be just a Question and Answer Session regarding
Computers, Cell Phone, Blackberries, and any other electronics
questions. This is for anyone with any brand or carrier of cell phone or
anyone with any brand or type of computer.
Often what we run into here in the office is people that would love to
sit and ask questions regarding their cell phones or computers, but are
pressed for time or do not think of the questions until after they get
home. We would love to help anyone, especially some of the seniors that
have said they are uncomfortable with technology or people interested in
new technologies. We also ask that anyone that has any and I mean ANY
questions or any expertise to add to our forum to please come.
There is no charge for this question and answer session. Coffee and
snacks will be served.
Anyone that is interested, please call or text me at 701-360-0533 or
email me at ericks@invisimax.com
Thanks Again Gary,
Erick <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Erick. Fifty years ago, or so,
"What this country needs is a good five cent cigar." Fortunately, we
have since learned that a cigar at any price isn't worth five cents.
Today, "What this country needs, is more folks that understand
computers."
Or so it seems to me.
