L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

It's no wonder the world is as crazy as it is. Tom Campbell found a
sign in Okeechobee, Florida Publix grocery store that said: "Florida
Grown Idaho Potatoes" Proof positive I guess that the buying public will
"buy" just about anything.
Then again, I guess if we can believe a 1500 watt heater will cut our
heating costs in half. We should be able to believe they can grow Idaho
potatoes in Florida.
However,.. I'll bet a dime against the entire stimulus package. Florida
grown Idaho potatoes can't carry a candle to the wonderful taste of the
delicious Red River Valley of the North potatoes.
And, you can take that to the bank,... if there is any open by the time
you read this Gazette.

I found the following comment from Lee most appropriate, for the times.

Just to add a little something to Tom's note in the Gazette today,
has it ever occurred to you that 1/2 of the population of the United
States have below average intelligence? Fortunately, the other 1/2 has
above average intelligence. I hope the right 1/2 are deciding the fate
of our nation!! <<<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Lee.

I'll admit that often when I go off rambling about "my" little
community I'm never really sure where it will lead. Or, for that matter,
how it will be read by others. For that reason it's always nice to get
feedback once in awhile from those I so feebly impose on.
Such is the case with the following note regarding my trip thru some of
Grafton's more "unique" business establishments.

Hi Gary, What a great "Gazette" this one is!! Makes me want to move
back to GRAFTON! So many wonderfu memories of growing up in
Grafton, the best place to also raise a family and a town that is small
enough to know almost everyone yet large enough to buy most anything you
need. Grafton, a "down home" town! Is Raumin still gone? So
sorry to read of Trueman Thompson passing. Thank you for keeping us
up to date on the happenings in Grafton.
Truly enjoy the Gazette! Norma <<<< Thanks a million for caring
and sharing Norma. I know every small town is special but for some
unknown reason. It is always the one that we live, that comes out up on
top of the heap. Or so it seems to me.

It's good sometimes, for us to spend some time, thinking of those we
have shared some time with. A time to recall all of the wonderful people
we have loved and cared for along the way.
It's not a sin for us to cry, and it's sure not wrong to wonder why.
It has been said, the more we love, the more we grieve. That is why
it's so hard when our loved ones leave.
Each person is special, in their own special way, somehow helping us
all along the way.
Even without a psychology degree, Trueman taught us to be who we are
and how important we could be. He taught us to smile with his humor and
jest. Trueman Thompson was definitely one of the best.
We all knew Trueman in our own special way and there is one thing for
sure that we all will agree.
Trueman certainly will be missed,......... However,.... he'll never be
forgotten.
We extend our sincere sympathies and condolences to Trueman's family
and his many, many friends.
