L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

The former Getz Drug building has another new owner. A $500 bid allowed
Warsaw contractor Roger Feltman the right to call the former drug store
building his. He says he plans to rent the upper floor of the facility
for offices in a yet to be determined configuration. The first floor
"might" become something resembling an eatery. And, I suspect, the
cuisine of the eatery, if it actually does come to fruition, is also yet
to be determined. I haven't heard whether or not the new owner plans on
resurrecting the former "cigar bar" on the upper level of the drug store
or not However, the windows of the former "cigar bar" would serve as a
fantastic observation area for this this years SummerFest Parade and
celebration.
Lets hope our entire community can band together and help Roger inject
new life into the building that the Getz enterprise organization
"donated" to the Grafton community so many years ago.

The last word on the front page of the latest Walsh County Record is
that Grafton ONLY has a fifty - fifty chance of having a flood this
spring. So the $64,000 question is...... How much sand will each
resident need? How many sand bags will we need to fill and just how high
should they be piled. And,.... when should each resident begin diking
their property?
Perhaps the 45 million dollar question could be. Do we have a flood
protection plan "SHOVEL READY" to comply with the presidents stimulus
package. If not, why not. Sixty one years ago this spring Grafton
suffered a major flood. Several folks said then that we could expect
another one, and sure enough. Two years later we had a more serious
flood. Several folks then said, "we should expect, and should be
planning for an even greater flood in the future."
This is the future... Or so it seems to me.

At this time next week It will be one hour later than it is right
now. Actually, Daylight savings time begins this Sunday morning at 2 am.
Rats,... and I haven't even used the hour I saved from last year yet.
