L O C A L news & stuff,.. most stuff
----------------------
We received more "rain" in the area last night than some area's in
Arizona have received in the last four months. Although the amount we
received, wasn't enough to grow a healthy cactus. It was sufficient to
turn most streets into skating rinks.
For the most part, rain around here in the winter is a good thing,
bad thing event. For the auto body repair shops, it's a good thing. For
the insurance folks, it's a bad thing. Then, of course, there's folks
like Denton Offutt, proprietor of Offutt Heavy Towing Service. I suspect
he feels equally strong both ways.
------------------------
Speaking of The Grafton News and Times. The front page of it's
November 4, 1942 issue among other serious and important issues.
Featured the announcement of an area man who enlisted in the Air Corp.
Jevon (Jeep) L. Aasand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Aasand, Hoople,
left Friday for Fort Snelling and then on to Randolph Field, Texas. A
graduate of the Park River Agricultural and Training School. Jevon
enlisted in Grand Forks October 23, 1942. ++++++++++
Speaking of Jeep and the Grafton News and Times. I understand
Eleanor (Mrs. Jeep Aasand) besides becoming Jeeps wife, was also
employed for a time by the News and Times organization as well.
Several months ago, or maybe even longer, I wrote about Eleanor as
being the first person to teach me how to dance.
It was the night before a school dance and Eleanor and a few of
mom's friends were at our house. When mother told the ladies I wasn't
going to go to the dance because I didn't know how. Eleanor stood up and
said, "Maybe he didn't, but he will before the night is over."
I remember, thinking as Eleanor push the kitchen table aside, that
she was the tallest prettiest lady I had ever seen. And, she was going
to "try" teach me how to dance. I was never a particularly good student
at anything. However, I can assure of one thing for certain. During that
dance lesson,....Eleanor had my full and complete attention.
So here we are, after more years have passed than 45 rpm records
over Lynn (Thompson) McCarty's record player. The last time I saw
Eleanor she may have been bit shorter, but she's every bit as pretty as
the first time she told me, "if you move your feet fast enough, no-one
will ever know you can't dance." Aren't memories wonderful?

Speaking of old friends and memories, I am pleased to share the
following message. >>> Dear Gary, What a wonderful service you offer us
free. Thank you so much for this information. The news was sad to hear.
We will try to get in touch with Delores. Thanks again . We are
hoping for our first rain in 133 days or close to that . So far today
there isn't the slightest indication of any rain clouds, but we can
only keep our fingers crossed. Stay well, Loretta <<< Thank you Loretta,
however the real thanks belongs to Monica for caring and sharing the
information you requested.

Rumor has it a major portion of the agricultural aerial spraying
operation of Don Hutson's Dakota Aviation has been purchased by a firm
based in Fisher. It's my understanding that all of Don's employees will
continue to work for the new company known as Agri-Max. Dakota Aviation
will remain in operation although functioning in a somewhat different
capacity.

I mentioned sugar the other day and received the following note.
>>> If sugar cost so much, why is it sitting on all the restaurant
tables "free" for the taking? As is salt, pepper and ketchup. Use
nothing or a lot. Your bill stays the same. See what happens if you
order an extra pork chop on your plate.
Ralph Kingsbury <<< Thanks Ralph, your point is well taken.
-------------------------
TREVOR LYNN MOE is one (1) year old today. He's been walking for
several weeks already and he can spend hours going thru his sister and
brothers books. Trevor (Bo-Bo) is the last of a bakers dozen
grandchildren for Pat and me. Some might say he hasn't been spoiled by
the myriad of people that tend to surround his space. Of course, that
would be folks that don't know him. OF COURSE he's spoiled, but in a
good way, according to gramma Patti. Happy Birthday Trevor we love you
very much. Gramma Patti and Grandpa Gary.
---------------------------
I found this note hanging on the family tree last night. >>> Hello
Gary I was wondering if you would add me to your family tree.
Thanks Kris Andrews <<< Welcome to the largest, "almost" daily,
publication of insignificant babble between Key West and Winnipeg.
Please keep in mind, that there is often a significant difference
between the facts, as I write them, and the facts, as you read them.
Should their be any misunderstandings, it's probably due to a
typographical error, or equipment failure.

GOTTA GO WORK ON MY DASH
==================================
The Gazette works best, when the folks that read it, write it. Or
so it seems to me.

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they are,
before it's too late.
