Everyone up and down main street simply must be pleased with the front
window displays at The Second Time Around Store. Bright and cheery, warm
and inviting so say the least. I'm sure that everyone will agree, the
new home of Grafton's Second Time Around store and it's professional
looking window display has made a dramatic improvement to the facade of
Graftons Down Town Strip Mall.

The giant corn pile, stored on the former Trailer City property, is
being hauled away. I'm not sure if it'll be converted to hog mash or
auto gas. It might just end up as cornbread, instead. At any rate, the
former Ted Hoffman Trailer City will soon be returned to storing
sailboat fuel again.

It's the caring and sharing that separates the good from the bad.
Celeste cared enough to share the following. >>>> Gary -
Again many thanks for the Gazette as I look forward every morning to
view it and when it is not there I'm disappointed and wonder what
happened.
When it comes to Joe Birkeland Lynn and I lived two houses north of
Joe and Avis when we moved to our house on Western.
It was a wonderful time and we became close friends. Our youngest
daughter Carmen worked at Grafton Drug after school and on Saturday's
when Rich Lapp owned it. Joe would come into the drug store everyday and
they would shake dice and just exchange what was happening in her life.
He was very good to Carmen and was fond of her but I believe and know
that she loved him even more. When he passed away it left a big void in
her life but she has wonderful memories and life lessons he taught her.
How wonderful there are people like that who come into our life, and, we
are never quite the same! Blessings, Celeste <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Celeste. I hope your message
can be converted from memory to memorex.

Kathee cared to share an idea that's overflowing with possibilities. An
idea that I'm certain, can be fostered to fruition by enegetic members
of the Gazette family.
Kathee wrote: >>> This is off the subject from the line of topics in
the Gazette right now, but I was struck with the beautiful photo of
Elmwood in the snow on the first page of last week's record. If Elmwood
is looking for a fun raiser, taking that photo and putting it on
Christmas cards or note cards would be lovely.
Just a thought.
Kathee Carlson <<<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Kathee. You
humble yourself. I don't see it a "just a thought". I see it as a
fantastic possibility to generate the much needed funds to perpetuate
Elmwood in it's proper stature. Christmas Cards, thank you cards, note
tablets, and Calendars would be just the tip of the iceberg.
Who, amongst us, has the proper credentials, equipment and desire to
volunteer and lead the campaign to fund Elmwood for the next dozen
decades,.... and more? It may even be possible that an outlet such as
Henry's Coutrypolitan, among others, may be willing to offer their
facilities to promote Elmwood items.

Requests for the 8th grade test is still a popular item in my mailbox.
Bonnie wrote. >>>
Gary, Please send me the 1895 8th grade test. I once had a teacher in
country school, named Isabelle Efterfield. Wonder if she is a relative
of Lowell's? Thanks, Bonnie.. I look forward to reading your newspaper
every day. <<< Thanks a million for caring and sharing Bonnie. The test
is on the way to you. Lowell and Karen Efterfield is sailing around the
ocean somewhere, but maybe he will read this and let us know if Isabelle
is related and also if he remembers the Aasand family in his former
stomping grounds.

Please welcome Alysia to the Gazette family tree.

Grafton police officer Slade Herfindahl and his wife Mary are not only
the very proud parents of Sawyer, their new born baby. They are our
newest Gazette family members as well.

A memory can last forever,........ on memorex. Or so it seems to me.

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they
are,..... before it's too late.
