05/04/06 THURSDAY
EARLY EDITION
---------------------
Todays Gazette is brought to you by Jack Maus, superintendent of
schools at Hatton-Northwood. Soon to be Superintendent of "our" Grafton
system.

The current temperature is 48 degrees.
Yesterdays H/L temperature was N/A
Normal H/L temp for this date is N/A
The weather man/lady says we have a chance of receiving another small
load of snowcat dust.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
-----------------------
The Hut is back baking pizza again. For some reason they don't seem to
want to use the large sign in front. Maybe they don't want to let to
many folks know their open at one time.
------------------------
The Armory is getting a new coat of something rainproof. The marquee
on the corner says the armory can be rented for ten dollars ($10) an
hour. You can't hardly rent an outhouse for a picnic that cheap.
-------------------------
I see someone is either redoing the cement blocks on Heartland Eye
Care, OR, they're doing a terrible job of trying to break into the
place. It's difficult to tell from the road. I'm not sure if it's
because of my glasses or the dust.
-------------------------
Yesterday I mentioned a couple guys with impressive beet yields in
1969. I should have included Harlan L. Brekke in that group as well.
Harlans harvested tons per acre averaged 16.59 tons on 75 acres.
+++++++++++++++
I should share the following words of wit, before the Lapps leave
town. It seems a lady went into a drug store and asked the druggist,
"Could I exchange the rest of these pills for three dozen diapers?"
+++++++++++++++
If anyone happened to notice a good looking woman flying over Grafton
last Sunday in a bright blue open cockpit biplane. It was either Lois
Penas or my aunt Leona. It seems those two young "spirited" ladies are
planning on making a career out of flying in Don Uhlebergs home built
Great Lakes biplane.

I always enjoy reading Sue Matcha's column --- LIFE GOES ON
I found this weeks From a small North Dakota Town article most
interesting. The Readers Digest Version is Sue wrote about the many
things that "relate" to small town ND. Like how fast one can drive
across town, or everyone knows everyone, etc, etc. I particularly
appreciated the last few paragraphs, and would like to share them with
everyone. Sue wrote: >>> You know you are from a small town in North
Dakota if a sign at the end of main street extends sympathies to the
families of people who have recently passed away.
Yes, Sue continued, we endure the cold in the winter and the mosquitoes
in the summer.
Yes, everyone in a small town seems to know everyone else's business.
But this too, can be a good thing when a neighbor needs a helping hand.
So let outsiders say what they want about us. I, (Sue continues) myself
believe a small town in North Dakota is Number 1 on the best places in
America to make your home. <<< Thanks a million for all those fine words
Sue, and, I might add, I couldn't agree more.
If you not getting the Walsh County Record, maybe you should give it
some thought.
On that same page, of the Record, is a wonderful picture of our
thirteenth grandchild, Trevor Lynn Moe taken on his first birthday.

Have you ever noticed when you blow into a dog's face, he gets mad at
you, but when you go for a ride in the car he sticks his head out the
window.?. Thanks Brad

If your looking for someplace special to eat breakfast this coming
Sunday. Why not stopped in at Heritage Village.
"Free Will Offering" pancake and sausage breakfast at Heritage Village
on Sunday, May 7, 2006 from 9am til 1pm. Also, we will be selling
"BARBACOA" at $6.00 per lb. For those who don't know what Barbacoa is,
it is a Spanish BBQ.
I understand the "Barbacoa" BBQ idea comes from one of the newest
members of the Heritage board.

The following message is the very latest word on "little" Ben. >>>
Family and Friends,
Sorry the updates are few and far between...but Julie and I have
struggled to find any free time. The second cycle of chemotherapy has
really taken its toll on Ben. His appetite has fallen off, and often
times when he does eat, he is not able to keep it down. We have been
giving him anti-nausea medication very regularly.
Ben's blood counts were low on this past Friday (4-28-06)...so he
received a blood transfusion that evening. That was the third
transfusion that Ben has received. Donating blood on a regular
basis is not something I have done. I feel guilty about that now. If you
are able, please donate regularly.
Ben is much more demanding than normal. We have found that we
basically need to have one person (Julie) able to devote all her
attention to Ben at all times. That means a second person (Chris,
Grandma Kim, Grandma Vernie) needs to be around to tend to Maria's
needs.
We are hopeful that Ben's blood counts are high enough to remain on
schedule with his chemo treatments. The third cycle is supposed to start
Friday, May 12th. That cycle will consist of two drugs infused on
Friday, and one drug on Saturday and Sunday.
Ben has his first tooth, and he has started to scoot around. He doesn't
crawl. He either rolls or sits upright and just scoots.
Thanks for the continued support,
Chris and Julie <<< Thank you so much for caring and sharing. Please
give "little Ben a squeeze from all of his friends in the Gazette
family.

GOTTA GO WORK ON MY DASH
==================================
The Gazette works best, when the folks that read it, write it. Or so it
seems to me.
"I may not always like what you tell me. I will, however, always
appreciate it."

Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they are,
before it's too late.
