sugarbeet harvest weather". The Readers Digest version, simply put......
"we should expect every day of sugarbeet harvest to contain all, or

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.

Although most of the trees in our area are showing various signs of
fall foliage. We have yet to experience a significant leaf shedding
event. Probably because we haven't had a real frost event,... yet.

Rarely, do I drive by the corner of Fifth Street and Griggs Avenue
without thinking about the Phillips 66 Service Station that spent so
many years doing business on that intersection.
I remember, as a young boy, I once walked out the back door of our
(Grafton Floral) uptown flower shop and going between the Hvidsten and
Grafton Glass & Paint buildings heading for, "the nice man, at the oil
change place".
I even remember sometimes wondering why "the nice man at the oil change
station" seemed like two people. As a matter of fact, as I am writing
this, I am reminded of the time my Uncle Ad Sevigny laughed at me when I
asked him why "those" two guys had to look so much alike.
At this point I am not absolutely certain if it was mom or if it was my
Aunt Theresa. However, I remember one of them said to me that they
really don't look exactly alike. And, that the reason I might think so,
was because both Elvon (Buzz) and Loren Anderson were such darn nice
people, they just seemed to be a lot more alike than they actually were.
Gosh I'm glad I had that explained to me in that fashion. As time went
on, and I began bringing my own vehicles into the Anderson Bros. service
station I would look at them and remember the real reason they "looked"
so much alike. They really were "very nice people", all of the Anderson
Brothers were. And, the fact remains, it simply did make them look much
more alike than their physical stature might suggest.
Unfortunately, and with great sorrow, I must share the passing of one
of Grafton's finest.

I would like to extend a most heartfelt sympathy and sincere
condolences to the Anderson family from everyone in the Moe family.
Although it's true that kind and prodigious individuals will continue to
come alone every now and then. They would all do well to emulate the
likes of Elvon A. (Buzz) Anderson.
May the Lord grant "Buzz" the just reward he so graciously deserves.
Or so it seems to me.

I received the following note from our eldest, and just recently, new
grandmother Kelly. She wrote; >>>
Hi Dad, thanks for getting the word out that the Country Smokehouse
proudly carries Papa Lou's BBQ sauce. I think Christine will be real
pleased with our sales for the first week when she stops back on Wed.
and we have had nothing but good reports about it from people who have
tried it.
Also, it's that time of year again. We can all tell where your
heart is: with the farmers and your wonderful extended family
at American Crystal wishing them the best for a successful beet
harvest. Your notes at this time of the year are touching cuz
I know how much this and all these people mean to you. From a
fathers daughter -- God Bless You All and have a Safe One!
Love, Kelly <<<
Thanks a million for caring and sharing Kelly. I'm sure Christine
will be pleased to hear from you. And, thanks for helping remind
everyone that it is the time of year to be particually careful and of
course we all wish our farmer friends a very safe and prosperous
harvest.

Each time I read someones obituary. The quote at the end of every
Gazette becomes even more valid and important.
Write if you can, call if you can't, and, tell your loved ones they
are,..... before it's too late.
