Todays Gazette is brought to you by The 2008 Grafton SummerFest
Celebration.
==== June 26th, 27th & 28th, 2008 ====
---------------------
The current temperature is 29
Yesterdays H/L temperature was 46/31
Normal H/L temp for this date is 60/35
It was 81 degrees on this date in 1981.
I can understand how some folks, living in a desert, can see global
warming as a problem. It's a bit more difficult seeing that
problem,..... over a snowdrift.

L O C A L news & stuff,.. mostly stuff.
---------------------
This years Summerfest, will be celebrated during the last full weekend
of June and will feature copious amount of entertainment.
A partial list of activities includes such things as Elmwoods Rubarb
Fest, a Fantastic Fireworks Display, Several Food Courts, Rock Wall
Climbing and the KXPO Singing Competition. Everyone will be
Entertainment by Greg Hager in Leistikow Park.
The Kiwanis will be holding their annual Breakfast, and there will be a
Kids Dog Show again this year. The Car, Motorcycle & Snowmobile Show
this year is expected to be even bigger and better than ever. Everyone
will have the opportunity to explore the grounds of Heritage Village and
much of "Uncle Sigs" collection now housed at Heritage Village. The
Saturday morning parade could well be the best parade ever. And, as
always, there is the GHS Alumni Open House.
All of this, and much much more will keep young and old busy throughout
the entire Summerfest event.
However, one event that WILL NOT be held during this years Summerfest,
is Mad Dog Productions Ultimate Fighting.
It is my understanding, that members of the Summerfest Committee met
Thursday noon and decided it would be possible to have a safe and
successful Summerfest Celebration without including Mad Dog Productions
in the format.
----------------------
The pipeliners added 3 more administrative trailers to their stagging
area Thursday. In addition, several local contractors are busy digging
in needed power water and sanitary systems, at the stagging area site
and at the Leistikow Park Campground.
With all the activity, the stagging area is beginning to look a little
bit like an ant farm on steroids.

Help the Legionaires help our youth.
I still have several (many) American Legion Baseball Calendar Draw
tickets looking for a lucky winner. Ticket holders will have a chance to
win $50 on the 22 weekday drawings and $50 for each of the 5 Saturday
drawings.
(only 400 total tickets will be sold)
Another way to look at it,.... is, all of the kids involve with
baseball end up winners with each ticket sold. Only 5 days left to be
included in on the May Calendar drawing. Please consider helping the
Legionaires support and maintain the American Legion / high school
summer baseball program.
Simply drop me a note and let me know your check is in the mail. I'll
put your name on a "lucky" ticket and then I will make certain your
ticket gets into the drum in time for the drawing.

Some folks say it's best to let a sleeping dog lie. Assuming of course,
that the dog isn't rabid,..... or,..... in the nursery.

A few days ago, I said. "Todays Gazette is brought to you with the
rights and freedoms gained from the efforts and sacrifices of the
Legionaires"
John C. sent the following in response to that. He wrote; >>>>>>
.....and the VFW'aires, AMVET'aires, DAV'aires, their Auxiliary'aires,
and anyone else who has put on a piece of clothing that would cause
their butts to get shot at.
Just an innocent observation, Gary. Hate to leave anyone out!
Keep up the great work!

Thanks a million for caring and sharing John. Your point certainly is
appreciated, and well taken. The list of individuals and groups of
individuals that sacrificed so much to gain and maintain our freedom is
a very long one indeed. In fact, that list, in all reality, must also
include a significant contingent of individuals wearing civilian attire
of various function and design too.
Or so it seems to me.

It's been a very busy week in the Gazette Subscription Department.
Assuming I have entered the addresses correctly.
